Hey all,

I'm in school full-time and am going to get my ADX license and degree in aviation in May. I applied to work the ramp as a RR here in SLC but I really don't know what RR is exactly. I get the sense that it is supposed to be flexible somehow which I will absolutely need with school. I'm thinking the job would be a good way to get my foot in the door.

Also, is it easier for RRs to get time off during the Christmas time or harder? This is the last Christmas I'll ever be able to spend with my family in CA as I'll forever be dispatching empty planes around the world during the holiday season.

Thanks for any info!

I worked DGS so I'm not 100% on this info but knew some people who knew about RR at mainline. Usually you work more towards the holidays or when the schedules get more flights. Also, I'm pretty sure RR has a max amount of hours a year that you can work. Pretty much I heard the best way to get work is by taking other people's shifts. Some people told me they had other jobs while being RR because you don't get enough hours to make a living off it, but it's the only way to build the seniority and wait until you can get a full time gig. It's all about getting your date ASAP and waiting patiently for something to open up.
