I found the ASA AirClassics HS-1 Headset at a few different websites, and all of the reviews were outstanding. Has anybody used these before? Can you tell me if they are really as good as everyone says they are?

Thanks

I was sooooo disapointed when I found out what was behind the title of this thread.

We use them as the headset in the scenic airplanes, and if a student doesnt have a headset. the ear seals get very hard after a very short period of time (a month or two). I dont use them much. i'd rather taxi with the hand mic and no ear protection than wear one of them.

They are the best of the 100 dollar headsets, but its still a 100 dollar headset. Spend a bit more coin and get a lighspeed 15 xlc, or a DC H10-13.4, you wont regret the extra expense. Plus those come with a 'lifetime' warranty.

Yep, i thought that was you but didn't know for sure

small internet world huh? what are you working on now, I saw you posting in the ATC section
about to do my checkride for my PPL. on the atc side of things, im working on getting hired. if everything works out my facility will be OKC

I used them throughout my Private Pilot training and part of my Instrument Rating. Not bad for $100. I didn't have any complaints but I'm pretty easy to please.

I finally upgraded to a pair of DC 10-13X. My ears were getting a little worn out and the electronic noise cancellation is excellent!

I still use the ASA when I take the wife and kids flying.

i did use a set of those ASA headsets.....let me just say you get your moneys worth...the only thing that made it worth it is that i was just borrowing them from a friend...after having used them for several months i constantly got a headache from them....i finally got a pair of DC's for my birthday and would recommend them. the way i see it, id rather buy a decent set for a little more money and not have to worry about replacing them in a year or so vs...buying a cheap set, then buying a better set down the road...you spend more money...just buy the DC's

I agree with the others, DC all the way. I've used mine for going on 2 years and it looks like new. I don't have any plans on replacing it anytime soon.

The ASA's were my first pair of headsets 15 years ago. I threw 30$ worth of oregon aero upgrades on them about 10 years ago and still use them today when I fly small planes. I've had to send them in twice for various issues. Both times, I recieved a brand new headset about 3 days later. The lifetime warranty and the price make them a pretty good headset to start out with.
