Is it appropriate to make contact with the HR department in additional to the resume and cover letter?
I need to pick up the effort to meet folks.
No more words could be any more true. The airlines are not going out to look for you. Make yourself known. B4 I got on with JB I talked to everyone I knew. I took guys info and kept in contact with everyone(even guys I jumpseated on). One of the Spirit guys who I jumpseated on his flight I kept in contact with. He sent me a LOR. They called for an interview but I was already at JB. Network, network, network!Yes. Like yesterday.
When JB picks up hiring again(who knows when), anyone interested send me a PM. Let's talk, do a M&G. You never know where it could land. This is why this site is 10 bizillion times better than all others.
why?ExpressJet is hiring like 600 new-hires this year.
Other than a few pilots from internet land the only guy that I've actually worked with is with Skywest. I need to pick up the effort to meet folks. I am really hoping Skywest calls as that is my only real chance to be on reserve near where I live. The rest of them I will be in a crash pad which is fine just not preferred.

I talked to the head recruiter and he said only 400 for 2012. I think everyone throws out numbers then adds 100. I know people have said skyway is hiring like 600 for 2012 I just don't see it and think it is gonna be maybe 400 at the most, especially when there has been no growth for years.600 seems like a very large number to me. What is driving the hiring?
I'll take you up on that. It hurts me that applied myself to make myself marketable to airlines (upgrading on the hard airplane, going to job fairs and applying myself) and then not getting even a "thanks but no thanks letter". Only to hear a chief pilots son getting a 76 job with legacy without pic. When JB picks up hiring again(who knows when), anyone interested send me a PM. Let's talk, do a M&G. You never know where it could land. This is why this site is 10 bizillion times better than all others.
