Any other airshow pilots on here?

slushie

Still here.
I'm fly with a group of C150's (and a 210). We're bring 'em for static display to airshows all around the southwest. If you make the rounds, you probably know who we are :P

Hi.

Love,
Slushie

What is that kid doing in the left part of the picture? What sort of group do you represent? I see what it says on the tail of the 150.

He's playing with a branch or something...not actually as close to the plane as it looks.

anyway, it's called Air Support Ministries. We are a Christian air group. Our basic thing deal is we take our polished planes to airshows, hang around them all day long and talk to people, let kids sit and play pilot...that sorta stuff. I'd give you the website but I'm just starting to put it together.

The sides also have "Jesus Christ is Lord" painted on them, and we are beginning to have the engines painted to match each plane. They have names too. Mine is "Amazing Grace." The others are "The Little One", "Everlasting Life", "The Miracle", and "J.I.L"

That's a pretty terrible thing to post. You don't have to like or respect his organization, but at the very least couldn't you not disrespect HIM.

It's Sunday...have you no fear man?:)

I thought it was funny :P

beats most of the standard silly comments we get. Usually people like the planes but can't keep from saying something like "If you guys crash, we're all going to hell!"

hahah

i didn't mean to refer to the planes quotes as "****" if thats how it came out, but the whole theme kinda freaks me out. sorry brothas! :)

"...freaks me out"

I second that..it reminds me of the student who, on approach, threw his hands in the air and said "allah will take care of me"

Sort of reminds me of the crazy old hippies that roll around in school buses converted to living quarters with anti-war slogans painted all over the outside. Nothing really wrong with it, just kind of eccentric. But if that's the way they want to spread the Word, it's fine by me.

I've noticed a lot of pilots try to keep God and aviation seperate. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but that's the way it is.

That's probably because pilots in general tend to esteem themselves quite highly. What we do is pretty damn cool. But too much of that and what have we? Hazzardous attitudes numbers 2 and 5.
:nana2:
And I've had a flight instructor (the best one I've ever had) say something to me about Christians and resignation (another H.A.!). Somewhat offended, I let him know as I will you, that I take pride in what I do. I'm not gunna just let go of the controls when I'm scared or sumthin, and I don't know where people get that crap from.

But hey.... I love you.

First of all let me say that you guys have some interesting paint shemes, one question though what is your goal when going to this places with your planes?

Let me know when you get your website up.

Religion and politics are two things that shouldn't be discussed in an airplane. As a deeply religious guy, I think this is a good thing. I like what you are doing, though, and own a 152 that needs a paint job. Keep me posted....

The planes are pretty, but there's talk of changing it about because of what people associate the rainbow with.

Our goal? To spread the word. To encourage people. To talk about airplanes with people. To have fun. To not get sunburnt anymore. To recind my membership in the diamondhead club (we got foam pads for the ailerons and flaps) :P

(I'm not 'religious' btw)

I agree in a plane you need to keep things cool. If ANY conversation gets a little too heated in the flight deck, it's best left for the ground.

That's when you change the subject to girls or cars or your weak paycheck.

If your plane needs polishing...I'm a novice. :P

I really only started this thread to see if I could meet up with anyone at El Centro next weekend :nana2:

"(I'm not 'religious' btw)"

You don't post pics of a 150 that says "God Rules" on the tail and not be religious....
