That's funny, I haven't heard anything about this...and I just sat through a class of Safety with Dana. Must've been a pretty rough landing for the plane to sustain "substantial damage."
 
hrmmm substantial damage.... wonder what exactly happened? maybe ill hear about it in av safety tommorrow.
 
I knew about this the night it happened.

No, it wasn't my student. But I know whose it was. Kind of funny the report lists it being from Sioux City SD when Sioux City SD doesn't have an airport, but Sioux City IA does. Having said that, the flight originated from Sioux Falls, SD (KFSD).

Yeah, definitely not a good thing. Plane is pretty messed up from what I hear. They might take the wings off so they can ship it here for repair or they might to a temp fix there and ferry it back to Grand Forks. Not sure what they're going to do but it won't be cheap.
 
seems like a 221 XC by looking at the time... I remember I was signed off for my solo xc with 16 knots and 28 knots headwind, what was the cause of this?
 
Darn, I took my 102 checkride in her way back when, hope she returns to the fleet sometime in the near future. :)
 
asked John Dencker in av safety... he hadn't heard about it, says he hadn't heard about it from Dana either.....
 
I believe from what I got through the grapevine, it was a maitence issue and not really a pilot fault. I believe the aircraft landed and had a strut failure and hence why they did not leave fargo. But that is what i heard through the grapevine.

Wrong, unreal what people hear. Btw, most strut failures are caused by abuse. So it isn't a maintenance issue but a pilot issue.

Withough going into too much detail, what do most students do incorrectly while landing at night? That's your answer....

This mishap is being classified as an accident because of the damage inflicted on the poor warrior. Not sure strut failure would cost $25,000 or more to fix (I think that is the amount to be classified as an accident).
 
Honestly do you think if a JC member was involved in this accident that they would fess up to it on this forum?

I would if it was me. The quicker you learn to accept when bad stuff happens, the quicker you can learn from it and move on. People screw up, myself included sometimes...I would have no shame admitting it.

Why not? People make mistakes and others can learn from them. So can I assume from your statement/question that if/when you make an aviation mistake you wouldn't fess up to it? :sarcasm: kind of
 
I'm thinking in terms of LEGAL EVIDENCE.

Last thing you want is your aviation attorney having to work around a written statement you posted on JetCareers in order to fight reducing the pilot certificate suspension term. After "litigation" is completed, I'd gladly fess up to it. It would be a great learning reference for everyone to discuss openly on a public forum.

Now after reading this would you still provide a potentially damaging written statement during legal proceedings with the Administrator?

Ahh the life of a college student taking a law class <....yawn....>Something happens, just sue......:sarcasm:

Fessing up to it...."Yes it was me....." and providing a complete second by second LEGAL briefing of the accident are two different things......

Was just wondering if it was one of the JC members. Nothing more, nothing less...

And yes, I have been in a few legal proceedings with both attorneys and Administrative Law Judge's. Not fun at all.... <daycare/maltreatment issues with daycare provider...>

I never said anything about suing, I was talking about protecting yourself from actions of the FAA through the assistance of an attorney.

My mistake then...reading too fast at night....change to....taking law class.....knows the law back and forth......could be in court room themselves.... Loads of Sarcasm........

I remember when taking business law myself.... :insane:
