I was there summer of 87. N2783Q.
I flew BFF-SNY-DEN, the old Stapelton. It was my first twin job. The training was minimal but adaquate, as it turned out. I remember flying my first trip after IOE thinking, holy crap, they cut me loose with just that...
Had to delay my first solo line trip when a CB came over the airport. It wasn't long but it's hard to make that call on your first flight. The second notable exception was the only mechanical I had in my time there was a busted starter. They didn't ask me to just prop it, either. They actually sent in a Lear to take my 50 boxes to SDF since they missed the DEN sort. I figured UPS was stupid to spend that kind of money on 50 boxes. Guess I was right as they don't do that anymore. Funny how I ended up working there.
I remember going into SNY I flew some stuff from Cabela's. Fishing rods were kinda long and didn't fit too well. Talk about a business that really grew...Cabela's.
N2783Q crashed in 1992 when both engines failed in the air, on takeoff, near the airport, but ran fine 45 minutes after the crash.
Glad it wasn't me...
