Anybody have any insight on Great Falls ? Looks like that is were we will be this fall. Any leads there or something commutable would be wonderful.
Thanks,

There's a FedEx regional hub there, and I think there's a regional freight company, but I couldn't tell you which one it is. Also, Ameriflight has a base not too far away in Billings, Montana. (A really quick hop on Big Sky). Also, Big Sky operates out of Billings and Boise. Both a fairly easy commute. Or if you want anything in SEA or PDX Horizon operates in GTF for sure out of SEA, and I think PDX as well.

Thanks PanJet,
Just found out tody that is were we will be this fall. I am hoping to find something where I don't have to travel for weeks on end or at least maybe not longer than a week at a time. I think that fed-ex thing is done by Corporate Air. I don't know much about them though.
We want to eventually end up in Spokane so at least this is getting a little closer.

I worked for Corporate Air out of Billings a long time ago. Was actually based in Scottsbluff and flew to Denver. They hired with 100 multi and IFR 135 mins for their piston Aero Commanders. Not sure they even run those anymore. You don't hear much about Corporate Air like you do Amflight. It's been far too long for me to have any connections, sorry.

Well I don't seem to have a edit button to get rid of that one. I was wondering if anyone would notice. Can you tell I'm new to the forum thing? :)

Dude. Don't worry about it. There's people at JC I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. Some people just move me in that direction (Don't piss off Yoda). There's others I'd bend over backwards to help. You seem cool, wanting to be in GEG and all.

Just try to stay away from the double posts...

Thanks " yoda " I really like Spokane. The wifes family is all there so we visit as much as we can. Hope to me a resident sometime down the road.

I just moved to Sun River about 30 miles north of Great Falls but I haven't looked into what kind of operations they have at GTF.

Corporate Air used to have the FedEx run from Great Falls to Missoula, but now it's Empire flying an ATR-42.

I talked to someone that used to work for Corporate out of Great Falls. Although they no longer have the MSO run, they still have a few others.

Thanks for the responses. We just got the word to be there by October 1. Been busy putting the house up for sale and stuff like that , gonna head down in August and check things out.
I talked to Corporate and GTF openings are rare , but hopefully they will call with something close, haven't heard back From Ameriflight or Empire.

How did you like flying "Kermit?" I was a dispatcher/flight following monkey for a while back in 2001-2003. When did you work for AirSpur?
They still had AC-500s, a couple of C-model 1900s, and a BE-99 or two.

I was there summer of 87. N2783Q.

I flew BFF-SNY-DEN, the old Stapelton. It was my first twin job. The training was minimal but adaquate, as it turned out. I remember flying my first trip after IOE thinking, holy crap, they cut me loose with just that...

Had to delay my first solo line trip when a CB came over the airport. It wasn't long but it's hard to make that call on your first flight. The second notable exception was the only mechanical I had in my time there was a busted starter. They didn't ask me to just prop it, either. They actually sent in a Lear to take my 50 boxes to SDF since they missed the DEN sort. I figured UPS was stupid to spend that kind of money on 50 boxes. Guess I was right as they don't do that anymore. Funny how I ended up working there.

I remember going into SNY I flew some stuff from Cabela's. Fishing rods were kinda long and didn't fit too well. Talk about a business that really grew...Cabela's.

N2783Q crashed in 1992 when both engines failed in the air, on takeoff, near the airport, but ran fine 45 minutes after the crash.

Glad it wasn't me...

I overnighted in SNY a few times at my last job when we did some survey work in Nebraska. Pretty odd, really. A teeny, tiny town in the middle of absolute nowhere...with the biggest, newest Cabela's store I've ever seen. The store has a shuttle van, and they will actually pick you up at the airport and take you to the store, or a hotel. In fact, the cafe at the store is one of only a couple places in "town" that's a good spot to eat (Elk Burgers, anyone?).
