Any flight simulator technicians?

Hey JC,

I tried searching online for sim tech training training and couldn't find too much. For those of you that are sim techs would you mind sharing some information on the type of education and where I can be educated on becoming a tech? I live in the DFW area. Thanks in advance!

A lot of them went through the military, but I don't think that is the only route. I suggest in DFW calling AA and talking to the techs themselves. Maybe there is an American pilot that can be the go-between for you. I know a few sim engineers (they do more of the software side of it) in Memphis, but that is a bit different than what it appears you are asking. The techs usually are working on the motion systems, visual systems, etc., while the engineers are writing the code.

I live right by the Flight Safety manufacturing facility. An engineer that I know said that they want trained avionic technicians for the manufacturing and support, and electrical and software engineers for design.

Hope that helps.

I'm in training as an instructor at a big box facility in DFW, I can see what I can find out for you. I went through HR with a new sim tech.

Awesome thanks! Also you don't need an AP license right? Ive seen some job descriptions that require/prefer that.

I just told you exactly what you need. I have a friend who is an engineer at flight safety. Sim techs need to be licensed avionics technicians.
