I realize that SSRIs are currently disqualifying for flight. Do you think that they will ever be allowed? I have GAD and had to ground myself once starting treatment on a SSRI. I really miss aviation and wonder if I will ever be able to return to my passion. Unfortunately, I believe I will be on the meds for life. Thanks for all your invaluable insight Doc.

I understand the FAA is rethinking the issue. I understand they may have some changes next year. They will also place very stringent guidelines on the use of this class of drugs. Most likely, there will be frequent follow-up visits with and reports from the treating physician required. Stay tuned.
