Well THIS is awkward!
Next to the B-36 the AN225 just looks like it was ripped from some comic book. It looks almost cartoonishly large yet sexier (in a cargo plane way) compared to say an A380.
Saw that plane land at IWA few years back. That’s a big ole plane.
I reported a 15 knot loss (in a Seminole) over the final approach fix for 30C there once and the -225 that was coming down the ILS behind be asked to break off the approach and hold until conditions improved. Strangest thing.
Picking up JerryW's ego.I THOUGHT I saw him at KOAK when I flew over a few weeks ago. There was also a smaller Antonov there around the same time at the north field.
They didn't do the circle to 33. Pansies.Picking up JerryW's ego.
Yeah, call me for the video when they do Option 28R, Option 28L, Full Stop 33.They didn't do the circle to 33. Pansies.
Is there only one?I guess when you’re flying the only example of something...
225? Yeah, there's only one. It was built to carry the shuttle, hence the humps on the back. Since this one flew, the backup wasn't finished. Later on the internal bracing was removed, 2" thick titanium floor fitted and she started flying cargo. Is there only one?
I think it’s dead sexy, call me crazy. And the 380 is a disgusting pig, btw. Still, in the big and sexy category, nothing will ever beat the 747. Not as big and sexy, nothing more beautiful than a 757.
Small and sexy? Show me something that makes your titties harder than a Gulfstream. (Minus the 650, which I equate to the ugly ass C5 trying to replace the C4 Corvette)
YMMV
Some folks are trying to resurrect the design, assemble however many they can from the left over parts, and make new ones. I guess they think there is some market for this size freighter. The one 225 seems to fly all over, so I guess there are customers.225? Yeah, there's only one. It was built to carry the shuttle, hence the humps on the back. The second one has been sitting "almost finished" for 25 years in a hangar other aircraft are being manufactured in. There are rumors that China wants to restart the program, there was a recent online video about the second 225 that I can't find now that explained why there are issues with that plan. I think the main issue was Antonov insisting that the aircraft will not be finished, or any other 225s' built, outside of the Ukraine. Copyright infringement never stopped China from copying stuff before, wonder how they'll figure this one out. Some folks are trying to resurrect the design, assemble however many they can from the left over parts, and make new ones.
