Antibiotics while flying...

Hi Doc,

I just came from the Doctors office, and with my symptoms he prescribed Ciprofloxacin. He said my symptoms may last for another 3 days (OMG I hope not). I have read on another website that I may need to wait 48 hours after using the medication before I am fit to fly. Is that correct? The PA who wrote the note for work said that I can return to work tomorrow, but I don't think she understood what my job requires of me...

Again, it is the reason for the Cipro, not the Cipro that is DQ. So it depends on what type of infection you have. For example, a sinus infection may be DQ by itself because of the potential for sinus pain, vertigo, ext. that can incapacitate a pilot.

Ah understood, thanks. The way I read the requirements seemed like the medicine was the reason for the DQ, and you had to wait until you finished the treatment before you were allowed to fly. Thanks Doc!
