Another "What Would YOU Do?"

Re: Another \"What Would YOU Do?\"

Tough situation. When I was instructing, that type of thing would have really pissed me off. It takes the student, who may or may not know whats going on, and makes them question what their primary instructor is not showing them by not taking them into IMC... When I personally tried to make a point of bringing them into IMC when they are ready. Pre solo is not the time.
The other instructor by not doing the plan by you, is ruining your credibility.

As for Mike Ds comments about people like this that are in instructing just to build time....
I personally would have loved to continue instructing but the job had one major drawback. The pay, actually the sever lack there of. Teaching is one of the greatest, and fufilling types of flying that I have had the pleasure to do, but its a shame that instructors have to • themselves to a flight school. .02

However, I would bet there's a good number of CFIs that feel that way. I'd think it'd be naive to think otherwise. Not saying it's right by any means, but I think that way of thinking is far more widespread than just the one guy here.

Unfortunately, this is a byproduct of the way the civil sector system is set-up. Although I'd take a fair shot that there are some military IP's that hate their jobs too. Granted there are probably way more CFIs out there with this attitude than military IPs at the end of the day there are always going to be pr&(s in every job. All the customer can do is be smart enough to pick up on this type of attitude and bail on them.

I fully agree. The CFI is the backbone of aviation, yet like any other teacher in schol systems, is paid next to nothing. The huge responsibility they shoulder is in no way commensurate to the pay and QOL they should be receiving, IMO.

Hence the description in a post a few months back about what "MikeDs flightschool" would be like, if I could do it.
