Another Skywest ALPA Drive

There's a thread in the general forum about how ALPA has successfully stopped the introduction of cameras in the cockpit. I wish they would put a cavet and let whatever legislation they stop only be stopped for ALPA carriers. Then maybe Skywest would consider joining.

Have fun riding the coat tails, glad I pay my 2%. YOU'RE WELCOME.

mueller? anyone?

Oby wan?!?

...why would we fight tooth and nail to merge the pilot groups?

Also if we were to merge the lists, I would say that we should do the right thing and make it based on % blending of seniority and date of hire within percentage blocks. By doing that we could actually find some unity after the merge and we wouldn't end up like AA. Why would we want to always be saying, you're ASA...you're SkyWest? If we do it then lets do it and get it over with and not poison our whole future together.

I understand your frustration but skywest pilots will need your support soon; the idea that they might be welcomed with anything other than open arms could sway votes.

If you follow the sop whats the problem?

If you follow the sop whats the problem?

You're probably not following SOP the way you think you are.

A couple more years in the airline business you'll realize that the guys that say, "I do everything by the book!" usually have you wondering what "book" they're following.

communication in the cockpit helps smooth operations...by understanding your co-worker, it helps wehn things get tight on a tought approach or in an emergency. The cameras and review of CVR will have a chilling effect on us conversing, and thus on out timeing when things get rough.

I know I would just sit there quietly from now on if the company started using the CVR to review for discipline and firings...

Thats the most commonly used sentence i hear at our company. And then the guy wonders how he got fired, or is getting disciplined. Even though he was a company guy, he sits there in disbelief its happening to him. Go ask that guy who failed EMB upgrade and is now flying in Dubai. I'm sure he still thinks unions are evil.

Ah. So you are one of those.

Well, my man, anyone who has ever come into my cockpit and declared anything close to that, I normally end of calling pro-stands on them because their idea of "SOP" is so far outa whack. (of course now I'm back to slinging gear, so no need for any of that unless the capt is trying to kill me)

I love you Skywest guys and gals. I understand I'm talking to a brick wall and personally I don't have a dog in the fight. I was non-union for a bit and I bailed because I saw how others were treated and I figured, before long, it was gonna come at me too. It's not that I wouldn't love you all to be an ALPA, or at least union, carrier, it's just I don't find any use in trying to talk to the obstinate.

I agree, and establishing some sort of relationship with the other guy really helps.

Note to self: Stop showering with axe body soap. It's affecting the incorrect sexual persuasion.

I know its frustrating, but if you mean good and wanna change things, ya gotta tone down the hate. Believe me, I know how you feel.

I can see it now...

To all Skywest and ASA pilots:

"Delta has more flying for us to bid on. Currently we are too expensive to be competitive. The flying consists of 45 200's and 20 new 900's. This would mean massive upgrades and a ton of new hiring. However since we are not competitive we are asking both pilots groups for concessions. A 15% pay decrease and..."

Who wants it more...

How can the two groups be whipsawed against the other. If your scenario were to become reality SKYW isn't union so they wouldn't have to ask for concessions. And thus they'd probably win the RFP!

I can introduce you to several CAs here that were following SOP, came across a check airman with a different interpretation of the SOP and wound up dequaled in a sim with their job on the line. If the company wants a witch hunt, they can get one, even if you are following SOP.

"I'm sorry, you said "Checked." The proper response is "Checked and set." I'll be flying the leg back."

:yeahthat:
We had a check airman that pulled a crews quals on a line check because the CA call for checks(before takeoff checks) and not checklist(before takeoff checklist), and the FO didn't stop him.

Looks like the troops that voted no last time are starting to get pissed and see the light. I wonder if ALPA is gonna give Skywest pilots another chance? Things to consider:

*NMB rules have changed
*one year upgrade gone
*continued erosion of pay and benefits
*continued "secret" firing of pilots for being human

I wonder if thats enough reason to change their minds?

Hey Segg, you got that number to truck masters?

don't forget the deice/ parking brake bs in ord! I'm hearing rumors that even gojet has a procedure for starting pay over the acars even while tHe parking brake is on. Also the loss of the ppo in the future. Quite a bit to get fired up about these days.... This could get interesting...
