Another propeller fatality - Gillespie field (KSEE)

I've hand propped a J3 and a 172 a handful of times. You better have trust in the person sitting behind the controls when you do it though, or really good chalks.

I used to hand prop a J-5 allll the time and I was usually the only guy at the field.

Went something like this:

Tie the J5 to the Kubota.
Put chocks around tail wheel (I had a set of chocks with a rope tied to them.. That rope went into the cockpit with me.)
Start the joker.
Walk back and untie it from the Kubota.
Climb into plane.
Jerk rope and drag chocks into plane with me. ;)

I use the same technique on the Champ, but I usually have someone who will start it for me.

I get nervous pulling a propeller through. I flat out don't/won't hand-prop.

I think I say it every time I read one of these threads, but for the love of God, be careful on the ramp. Doesn't matter what kind of ramp it is, be careful on the ramp!
