Another PFJ?

I could not believe this when I saw it in the November 05, 2006 Sunday Chicago Tribune.

AIRLINE JOBS
If you are a pilot or want to be, American Eagle is hosting a seminar Nov 9th, 6:30 to 9:30pm. Training available. No experience necessary. Existing pilots bring resumes. Call RAA @ 1-866-709-4892 for location or SEE AD in the Training & Education Section.

Seems as though RAA and American Eagle have one of those oh so famous agreements. Any Thoughts?

Do I have to start another PBJ thread?

"If you are a pilot or want to be, American Eagle is hosting a seminar....Training available. No experience necessary"

I'd bet RAA is doing the "hosting" more so than Eagle. Somebody needs to go to this thing and report back.

I know. Wouldn't it be cool to hand out JC business cards just outside the door.

I love the "No experience necessary" part.......I wish I woulda known that when I started applying for airline jobs........

Crappy mx here in PHX. I was speaking with a gal from the Scottsdale FSDO about 6 months ago who said they may get shut down as a result of it. Maybe things are better now, who knows?

RAA? Their marketing tactics suck, see the above and their website. The concept of selling 300 hour F/O's to the regionals because they have a type rating sucks. I hear the flight training part is hit or miss. I think it boils down to who you get as a CFI, just like any flight school. It's probably overpriced, too, but they will make it look like a good deal cause they will say you'll get hired with less time.

In general, have heard just as much bad as good, which isn't good.

Just out of curiousity, what are peoples opinions about RAA?

Crap, crap and more crap.

There you have it :)

Oh and I like this from the website....

"Upon Completion of our Regional Airline Career Job Placement Training Program you may be hired by one of the following airlines in the future: Alaska Airlines, America West Airlines, Mesa Airlines, AmeriFlight, Frontier Airlines, AirTran Airways, Spirit Airlines, Delta Airlines, World Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, Chautauqua Airlines, Air Midwest, Ryan Intl Airlines, Comair, UPS Airlines, Mesaba Aviation, Northwest Airlines, CommutAir, JetBlue Airways, Polar Air Cargo, PSA Airlines, Hooters Air, FedEx Express, Pinnacle Airlines, American Airlines, American Eagle Airlines, Continental Airlines, ExpressJet Airlines, Skywest Airlines, Business Air, Colgan Air, U.S. Airways, Horizon Air, Air Wisconsin Airlines, or Midwest Express Airlines."

Talk about misleading :( To those uneducated (or non JC-savvy) one might actually think they could get on with those in bold. Crafty wording there.

Why are all those suckers going to regionals when they can go straight to fedex!!

suckers!!1111

:sarcasm:

We should pass out JC cards at these scammy events because the people that do these programs are probably more likely to swallow pay cuts and further bring the industry down!

I have flown with a few guys from there. Good guys, but all left early and are pretty angry with all the money they spent. They say that the training is good, but nothing special and can easily be duplicated at an FBO for much cheaper. $75k+ for the program which includes the CRJ type.

Where I fly (SFB), we have tons of DCA and RAA grads. Not a single one of them are happy they went to their respective schools. ALL of them say they should have went the FBO route.

You would think that American Eagle or AMR might have something to say about that ad. What airline would want the general public thinkng that they are looking for pilots with "No experience necessary"

Nice. I MAY win the lottery this week, too......

Sadly, there is someone out there writing a check b/c they think FedEx is gonna hire them right outta RAA.

I think that's a great idea... next time someone knows of a company like this doing a seminar, let me know and i'll send out some cards or luggage tags or something....even Darby's seminars would be great for that....

:nana2:

speaking of... is anyone going? i could fedex cards out tomorrow...
