Another headset thread

If it ain’t a Boeing, I’m not going. No choice.
Need a TSO headset. I'm... middle aged... and noisy cockpits mean the controllers all sound like Charlie Brown's teacher with what i'm using now. Considering:

1. Bose A20 - nice headset but big and bulky (and they look like they'd be hot in the summer). Probably not convenient to carry while commuting.

2. U Fly Mike - Looks nice for commuting but I've heard the TSO modification is a pain.

3. Clarity Aloft Pro - I like the idea of these except the comply tips are expensive. I have a pair of Quiet Technology Halos that I loved in the Learjet, but they aren't TSO.

4. Stick with the Telex 850s I wear now and wear earplugs underneath them (had to do this in the jetstream except back then it was earplugs beneath David Clark 1013.4s)

I love the uflymike. The worst part about it is that when the batteries get low it loses audio. The tso fixes this by having backup ear buds attached. Not much of a pain but if you want to be tso legal you have to have the ear buds in there. They are quiet, great for the commute, large ear cups to fit my dumbo ears.

On the microphone part that goes into the QC15 there is an 3.5mm audiojack where you plug the earbuds in. Then you are supposed to wear the earbuds when you run out of batteries. I change the batteries when the light has been blinking for about 30 minutes. Only lost audio once when I pushed it to the end on the battery life.

Bought the Clarity - pretty decent company discount. Gonna give them the 30 day trial. If I don't like them, I'll give uflymike a try

A20s look a little "clampy". I think I had narrowed it to the Clarity Alofts and the UflyMike. I'll give Clarity a try for a few weeks. If I don't like it, it's Bose time.

The CA is a great headset... You have to change the earbuds about once a month. Very comfortable with sunglasses.

You are going to love the clarity aloft, I've had mine for almost 4 years now, wearing them for 4+ hours legs is a breeze. If you clean your ears often (like getting out of the shower) the tips will last much longer. Washing old tips with dish soap works as well, but they don't work as well as brand new ones of course.

I just went from the QC-15 and the u-fly-mike to the a20s. While the a20s are a little heavier the noise canceling is much better in my opinion. They also have a 3.5mm input jack that you can plug a MP3 player into. And they sound great. I love the uFlymike set up but the a20s are better.

I own the Clarity Pro. I love them! Dad is 737 captain and he used them for a trip and loved them also!
