Another flood?!?

Yeah - even after numerous floods this rural town has endured, people still decide to make it their life long goal to build a family and live in Grand Forks, ND for the rest of their lives. That's my goal!
I'm sure it is...hehe
Funny thing is that I know a professor here that used to live in California all of his life, but he moved to Grand Forks because he was offered a job here teaching, and he's been living in home by the S. Columbia overpass since like 1984. CRaaaaaaaaazy!

Yeah, my Statistics teacher is from Calfornia... yet due to a job offer for teaching she resided here.

I think the smell of Simplot is just what I dream of when looking for a place to live.

yup, I want to walk outside and be able to go "mmm....french fries"

you may be on to something..... could explain why the girls here are so ****ing fat.

Oh yes, they dont even have to eat. The calories and saturated fats are just absorbed by their skin. Yuck, I just offended myself.

Simplot...Nothing like the smell of one of those places. Just think concentrated gym socks and ass, and that comes pretty close.

Hey Jeremy, the observation was great kind of sucks it was cut short because SOF MIGHT GET MAD!

floods like the one this year don't happen every year. this is the first time the river has been up even close to this high since 1997

it was that high in the spring of 2001. we volunteered to sandbag in crookston. i guess that was before we realized, collectively, that the town would actually improve if it went in the drink.

yeah that was pretty lame. need to do any more observations? i guess we are going to try and finish the lesson friday night.

I should be set, but if you want weight and a helper let me know, oh and I keep my mouth shut, but that was total BS about the landing light getting hot and airflow over it. Im sure he knew. Instructors love scaring their students.

what did he say about the landing light? i remember something about "oh it gets hot" and thinking "wtf, lights dont get that hot, esp since it is HID"

but i dont remember what he was saying the 'consequence' of it was. i kinda tune out the BS :sitaware:

what happened?

The landing light myth is complete bowl, according to one of the mechanics at the airport. I asked him about the landing light getting "too hot" because HID's use a fraction of the power it takes to drive halogen lights - my flight instructor in 102 was like "oh no! your gonna burn the bulb if you leave it on while taxiing". I followed his instructions (and still do anyway as to not blind anyone while taxiing) but I still questioned it. Maybe it was true back when the Warriors had old-fashioned halogen lights...*question authority* as they say :D

The old warriors, pre bendix and garmin, did have a landing light that would get very hot, and burn out fairly quickly if left on all the time. The new ones, leave the damn thing on if you feel the need for it. Be considerate and don't blind people, but if you want to taxi out to 35R using the landing light, go for it. You are sitting in the left seat making the decisions.

the old bulbs would burn out quite easily, i was here flying when they still had the old landing lights. same goes for strobes, but UND makes you keep them going.
