Another CFI-Initial Ride Report

I drive planes
Taken at SIUC. The Oral with the Chief Flight Instructor, and the flight portion with an Assistant Chief.

I did the Oral on 3/5 and was not able to do the flight until after my spring break on 3/16.

Oral-

About 4 hours long. Started with all of the paperwork and then moved right into each special emphasis area. From there, we moved into the basic FOI stuff for about 2.5 hours and then took a break. After that, we came back and I taught a 30 minute lesson on the Commercial manuevers and we were finished! Pretty smooth ride, that was way easier than I was anticipating.

Flight-

Was 1.6 on the hobbs. Started off with checking the inspections in the logbook, then onto the W+B and takeoff/landing distances. Outside to teach a pre-flight on the C182RG, and then into the airplane. Started with a short-field takeoff and then off to teach straight and level and turns. Then teaching basic instrument flying. Then I performed steep turns and a lazy-8, then talked her through a lazy-8. Power-off stall, and an elevator trim stall were uneventful. Taught emergency gear extension and a simulated engine-fire to an off-field landing. Then back to the airport for a soft-field landing, a performance of a power off 180, and talking her through a power off 180 and then a normal landing. Then to finish things off, a no-flap/forward slip to a landing, to parking, where I taught her how to tie down and secure the airplane.

A good checkride, that I am glad to have behind me. I am working on the II now and should have that ride in about a month.
