Announcement Ending 05/02

I figured I would start a thread about those of us who applied for the Public Announcement that ended on 05/02/2008.
We could use this to keep each other up to date on how the process is going, and could be used for questions regarding the whole process.
This will just keep questions about this specific Announcement from cluttering the other boards.
So, lets get the questions and comments flowing!

My question #1: when they tell us that we were accepted to take the ATSAT, do they email you regarding this, or do you have to check back on the ASAP page to find out?

Wynn:rawk:

You will be notified on the first ASAP page saying the list is being generated. Robinson Aviation will then e-mail you to set up a date, and also mail you a letter. My letter came after the deadline though.

Nothing here yet. ASAP page looks exactly the same as the day I applied.
Just from reading other peoples experiences, looks like we better prepare for a long ride.
Anyone know of anyone who was NOT selected to take the test for any reason? It'd be nice to know how many of the applicants don't get to take it to get an idea of our chances.

Good idea for the thread... Should have probably put it in the Air Traffic Control career specific category though.
The Ask an Air Traffic Controller section might not garner us the attention we would like!

You beat me to it! I was waiting for my account to be approved and was going to do this exact same thing.

I applied for the May 2nd announcement, which is 365 days away from my 30th birthday, so I am sweating bullets. When I check my ASAP page daily, I have the two messages stating that 1) my application has been received and 2) No referral lists have been created....am I looking in the wrong place for the test information?

Personally, since reading all of the threads, I ama bit nervous about what is going to happen. Not so much for the ATSAT test, but the "luck of the draw" about where you want to go. I'm probably a minority and am willing to go literally ANYWHERE in the world to get this job started....even Guam! Fortunately, I'm single, have no connections and can pick up and move anywhere, at any time, for any reason....I wish there was a way for me to put that on my selection form....I'm willing to be abused in that manner.

You have to be no older than 30 to be hired by the FAA. So you have through your 30th year of life, until your 31st birthday.

I'm 30, and still cruising along in my application.

I don't know about Guam. MAYBE Puerto Rico!
I'm not sure if the Geographical preferences sheet that they give you after you've taken the test is the same as the one on the application.... but if so you might have the option to pick "United States, throughout the nation."

Personally, If I get to that point I will be selecting MA and NH. I'd like #1 to go to the Logan tower in Boston. If not, I'd like to go either the Boston Tracon or Boston ARTCC in New Hampshire. (Weird they call it Boston but its in New Hampshire)

Yeah, jumped the gun a bit. Meant to stick it in the other one, just was not paying attention. I'm sure the point will get across though.

The AT-SAT information is on the home tab, not the applications tab. You'll see it underneath the white "alert" box and above the "How to use ASAP" instructions.

Thanks for the tip! I'm looking daily, but after reading a bunch of the other threads for the last announcement, I'm just hanging tight. At least I have a year longer than I had though...more time for me to waste going to college and being an FA before I leave....heck, I might even get my 10 years in at JetBlue! LOL

Reading all of the other posts with this, I have a feeling we might be taking a little longer than the rest....with the length of time the last group went, I'm not getting into being worried yet....but, I'm addicited to checking the webpage and do so several times a day....maybe getting back to work tomorrow will help take my mind off of it.

Anybody out there that wants to keep in touch via IM (I have my AOL, MSN, Yahoo IM posted), feel free to hit me up anytime...I'll answer if I'm home and online.

The Feb group seems to be moving at a steady pace.
Its the one before that (June) where some of the time frames were a lot further apart.

I wish I had realized sooner that the FAA was going to be hiring off the street. Somewhere in between Feb and March I finally decided this is the career I wanted to pursue, and I applied and was accepted to 3 CTI schools.
I went through all that leg work of applying, visiting the schools, paying for this and that, the whole nine..... and I have since determined that going to school was not going to work out for me. (For multiple reasons)

So after all that, and thinking I wont be able to pursue the career I wanted to, I pop up the FAA job site and see this announcement. WOW.
Good luck to all you 5/2ers

Whats up Guys,
I am currently flying for Expressjet airlines and decided to get into a more secure field and better quality of life. I decided this FEB 16th...its sucks i missed the other deadline by one day. I am here waiting with everyone else and I hope it goes more smooth than it did for the applicants in 2007. Good luck to everyone!

I applied for both the 2/15 and 5/2. I would guess you all will get your paper mail notification for the ATSAT before the first of june. I think it took most of us from the 2/15 group about a month. I received my mail notification 3/15 and had to schedule by 3/17. However the 2007 guys had to wait anywhere from 5 to 7 8 and 10 months to schedule their ATSAT or hear anything. OKC is going through referrals right now for 2007 and scheduling PEPCS for them as well. also they are supposed to be generating lists for the 2/15 group after. They have a busy month so don't be discouraged. You can always call OKC if you don't hear anything within a month to check in and see whats going on. Plan on spending a day on the phone trying to get ahold of someone... it is frustrating :banghead:

I applied for the 2/15 announcement and I got the AT-SAT email from Mr. Oborsky on the 29th of Feb. Got the snail-mail letter a few days later. Tested on St. Patty's and got the results via ASAP two days after that.

I talked to OKC yesterday and they said the earliest ATSAT info would be released was next week. If anybody has other info please share! Just curious, Which Facility is everyone interested in?

Thanks for the info, Victor... let's hope they can get us started (although they'll probably finish up the 2007 and February applicants before we can get anywhere )

I'm from the NY/NJ area, which is where I'd like to stay, and go to EWR, JFK, LGA, or even any of the smaller, less busy airports around here...

Personally, I have nothing keeping me anywhere...I'm one of those people that they could send ANYWHERE and I'll be thrilled, and just work my way back to where I would want to be....I hope that being more flexible will allow me a better chance at getting on, since I have ZERO restrictions.

I live in Lexington, Kentucky now, but there is no way I would want to stay here. I grew up in Northern Kentucky, and have been in the CVG tower many times, not to mention, my dad works for a company based out of CVG, so I wouldnt mind working there. My only thoughts are heading somewhere south of CVG. Nashville would be great, SC, NC, GA, FL...sadly, I have a feeling there are a lot of people with the same mentallity that I have. As long as its south, I would be happy.
