Announcement Ending 05/02

I think there were some PUBNAT1 folks getting class dates before all of their PEPCs were completed.

Correct. They are not going to hold back the people who attended the KC PEPC to wait for everyone to go to LA PEPC. If your clearances are in, and there is a seat open for your facility, and you are next up, you'll get a class date regardless of where other people are in the process.

I am just hoping I can get in by the end of February. Thats my goal. As we all know this is a long process and I just want to get things ROLLING!:rawk:

Kansas City Nov. 17-21st PEPC Academy Start Date
Im just curious if anyone who attended and passed the Kansas City PEPC between November 17th-21st has been contacted and recieved an Academy start date? I attended the PEPC on Nov 20th and signed the TOL for ZLA. I know its too early to hear anything but the waiting sucks!!! How long does it usually take after attending the PEPC before you get your FOL and a start date for the Academy? Post on here when you start getting your Academy start dates or if you know anything at all regarding this post-PEPC waiting period. Thanks

Depending on your facility assignment, if you were OTS, or VA, and length it takes to get security clearances, we could be waiting up to 18-24 months for OKC. I know at the PEPC in KC, the HR people told the group I was in while we were signing our TOLs(all Enroute) that if we were going to Dallas/Ft. Worth it would be no less than 18 mos. before we started OKC. However, if any of us were going to Oakland Center we would most likely be in OKC by Feb. or March at the latest. She just used those two as examples, meaning, depending on the facility need. I asked about ZKC and she said probably around June. But, you must remember, these people get hundreds of phone calls a day, so maybe she was just saying that to keep me from pestering her in April and May if I don't have a class date by then.

Talking to the CTI coordinators at ERAU (take that for what its worth) during a final exam at DAB on Friday, she said that for CTI students- who need not take ATC Basics- the current earliest opening for classes is March 18th for Center en routers to begin non-radar lab.

For those airline boys, like myself, who originally had the mindset that an airline career was the way to go- and who were drawn to the goal of flying a regional jet on the River Visual at DCA following a Cactus 733 only 4 nm ahead of you only to loose track of that traffic in the smog around DC and then getting too high on the LDA localizer/ glide trying to find a blasted 737 and having to descend at 1000 fpm at 143 knots Vapp with the autothrottles apposing your commands to flight idle…. well, for ATCS applicants needing to take ATC Basics who are en route students, classes are open in mid February with traditionally two 25-day classes a month, normally 10-15 seats in size.

My sincere thanks to the very awesome local controllers at DCA! Give them a roll of coins.

For those that may not have noticed and put two and two together to make five, in The Official "Waiting on FOL from Chicago PEPC" thread, page 13, two people received notification of class dates. From what I understand, their time lines were:

Chicago PEPC in early August 2008
Firm Offer Letters on December 8th (4 months from PEPC to FOL)
OKC class dates scheduled for February 2, 2009 (2 months after FOL and 6 months after PEPC)

Translating those timelines to attendees of the Kansas City PEPC in mid-November, we could likely expect:

FOL in March 2009
OKC Class Dates in May 2009

While some people strongly believe they will have FOLs after the new year and class dates as soon as February/March, I am applying basic logic in a non-pessimistic way to prove that we may have a little more waiting ahead of us. Studies of historical patterns and timeframes could likely dictate our future paths as well.

Just my $0.02.

After more in depth review of the Final Offer Letter from Chicago PEPC thread, I did notice that after an August PEPC, a number of lucky people did get early responses, such as October, November, December, and January class dates with notification ranging from less than 1 week to 8+ weeks. So I retract my previous comment. Please excuse my trigger happiness to tap that Submit Reply button.

You're excused! Having hope will be many of us through our current crummy jobs.
