Announcement Ending 05/02

A week or two after the last testing happens across the nation you will get an email to pick your geographic preferences. A month or so after that they do the referral lists. 1-2 weeks later the panels meet. 1-2 weeks after that you (hopefully) get an email inviting you to a PEPC. Times are approximate, your results may vary. Void where prohibited.

Thanks for the info. Any clue how specific you can be on a location preference without getting frowned upon? I know they probably want ppl to be flexible, but I REALLY would like to stay in my area if possible.

Kinda 0ff-track...but does anyone know...on the practice section of the SCAN test...after you do it it says "aircraft avoided correctly/incorrectly" wtf does that apply to?

I mean, common sense would suggest that it's preventing the blocks from touching each other, but they move so fast it's not like they're even travelling but rather just blinking a few times then disappear.
The point of this being...is this graded on on the AT-SAT?

In regards to flexiblity...I imagine like a ARTCC region would be flexible enough...but then I don't know.
But that'd cover 1 ARTCC and a good lot of TRACONs. Or state-wide(depending what state you're in).

Being in Florida...I have like 9 to choose from in this state alone...

You can probably be as specific as you want, it still doesn't mean they will put you there. It still wouldn't hurt to try. They do have a comments section for a reason.

I'm assuming that means...

Correctly: Number of aircraft you correctly entered (outside of range)

Incorrectly: Number of aircraft you incorrectly entered (inside of range)

And don't sweat it too much, it seemed much easier on the test. The range doesn't change nearly as much.

Yeah, that's where I crashed my planes too. They either knicked the airport wall on the way in or the knicked the exits on the way out. this happened when I thought they were good to go and was just letting them do their thing...unfortunatley I guess they were a little "off" and it was hard to tell that when they were clear across the screen and I had set them in motion. Of course, I have to think that lining up with an exit in a 40 thousand foot wall around the airport would probably be the job of the pilot...as long as I get him close:laff:

I moved each aircraft like 3 times before they exited because I was so afraid of a repeat of the airport wall incident :banghead:

I selected only GA in my geo pref and in the comments requested ZTL, ATL ATCT, or ATL Tracon. I am interviewing for ZTL this month. You can be pretty specific, but it doesn't mean you will get it.

Where in Florida wouldyou like to go? I am wanting to try to get a spot down there as well, especially MCO, but I have heard a lot of the senior controllers try to go there to retire. I would be flexible with anywhere, but taking into consideration the cost of living, I would want to stay out of South Florida. $100k does not get you anything there...

Hey does anyone know what is the last test date in the nation? I want to know so as to when I should expect another email for geographic pref. email being that I got looked over on the last one.

Look into KSFB, Orlando-Sanford International...they do a lot of international flights from England, Iceland, etc...also one local company still flies out of there...Allegiant Air. I did all of my flight training out of there...been in the tower a bunch of times. Great people there. Seems like it would be a great airport to control at...(Especially if you can speak and understand broken-English-Chinese..(There's a TON of Chinese students there.))

Hey guys!
I have been reading for awhile now, since sending my app on asap. I am taking AT-SAT on friday. Stupid question time... Does everyone get selected to take to AT-SAT?
Thanks

Ha.. And they say there is no stupid question.:p There should be a requirements section err sumthin on the announcement but it's either your work experience or schooling or a mixture of the two. I'm too lazy to find the thread but just keep reading its in here somewhere.

Where in the hell do you think you're going to make 100k as a controller under the new pay system? That was a good one.:panic:

You know, I almost made a special reference to a select few of you guys to limit the amount of grief I would get, and I'm actually surprised it took this long to hear anything back from you. I wasn't saying that I would be making that much, I was just pointing out the fact that in, say Miami, $100k wont get you jack. Just making a reference to the cost of living factor.

Off to ATL for a tower visit and the ATSAT tomorrow. Vacation, here I come.....

anyone know much about MSY or any other airports in Louisiana? just curious. i haven't heard (read) anyone say (write) anything about that area in all the forums.... ??? do we exist down here below sea level?
