Anyone have experience with Angel City Flyers in Long Beach? I'm thinking about doing intensive training PPL there and some feedback would be great.

Thanks lots,

I know somebody who went there and got his PPL.

He said it was a good experience, but if he did it again he would've learned somewhere cheaper. He ended up spending a ton.

Just by looking at their website, I can tell you that Angel City Flyers is going to be ridiculously costly. They're quoting you $11,000 for a certificate at 35 hours of flight time. Unless you've been flying with gramps since age 3, you're not going to be ready for the checkride in 35 hours. Realistically, the most focused student will probably finish somewhere between 50-60 hours.

Assuming you're going to pay over $200 per hour in just flight alone, the additional cost will be extreme. You could end up spending $15,000 for a certificate, and that's just too much.

The DA-40 is an awesome aircraft. And the glass panels make everything so convenient. But to be honest, I don't think you need to learn on one. I suggest going to either Aero Aviation or Long Beach Flying Club. The dual flight time (152) works out to about $130 at both locations as opposed to the $220 at Angel City.
