ANG is still going through a separate course that is still AMS though I've heard it was renamed ANGOTS. They moved it to Maxwell but the course is still 6 weeks long. Rumor has it that the class size is now 125 students to make up for only three classes, but they are only running a fall, winter and spring class due to ROTC FT going on in the same area. Due to different funding, I doube highly that an ANG student would go to OTS.
:yeahthat: x a hundred million thousand.Trust me, you don't want to anyway.
:yeahthat: x a hundred million thousand.
I'd give you a .6-.9% chance of going through regular OTS. Trust me, you don't want to anyway.
You're wrong.
You want to go to OTS. It'll make you a better officer.
I mean, just look at The Fez.....
.....wait, nevermind. Bad example.
Carry on.
Nice try Mike. Where did you get your commission again?
From a box of Fruit Loops....

I would've thought a box of Cracker Jacks, but hey, what's the difference right?
Don't make fun of me Mr. OTS DG!
Frog flyer told me the truth!!

You'd enjoy getting your crop duster's commission in 6 weeks much more than the 12 fun weeks of OTS.
Mr. OTS DG!
Where's he going to UPT? Doesn't that mean a guaranteed fighter?![]()
Kind of on topic, kinda off, but....
Guaranteed tracks prior to any training experience are notably foreign to my service and my flight school experience. So I'm wondering how the AF picks it's jet guarantees? Yes, I know with the right amount of time and money spent you can probably make a monkey a decent tactical replacemtent pilot, but that said, I have seen folks attrite from here who actually did prove themselves in primary (which would seem to be the best indicator of future performance that we have). It seems like it would just be such a crap shoot trying to figure out who was going to do well and who wasn't. Do the ANG folks have enough $$$ to lose a guy every once in a while to attrition, or do they just not care and front the required extra training to make sure he/she gets their wings? Having been through both grading systems (MPTS and the old "above/avg/below" system), I think MPTS gives a little bit more leeway for slow learners and forgives more rookie mistakes, but I'd still guess that there are folks out there who would have trouble either way, and more specifically, regardless of how well they did on a standardized aptitude test or in college. Thoughts/comments? And this is certainly not meant to be a jab at the OP or anyone else, I'm just simply curious how it works.
LOL.....true enough
He's reserve though, so he doesn't have to worry bout the AD backstab rat-race there, at least.
Valid point...but people can still make fun of the DG in his flight.
I had the poor luck to be a DG out of a recent formal flying training program I went through, and at my first IP meeting in my new squadron the CC decided that was the time to announce the achievement in front of all my new bros.
You can imagine how that one went down, heh heh. Worse even than 'stand up and tell us about yourself'!
