And then there were two

Fascinating.

It's probably "wrong" on my part to blame the equipment, then. I wonder... o_O

Not saying they didn't have their issues. They were just safer than Ravn/Hageland and Grant based on the data available. While on a per flight hour accident rate Yute came out as safer. However with less flight hours than the others. % wise they were apparently safer.

I ask this in all sincerity, devoid of all snark: is the bolded above a good thing, or is this a bit of Alaska sarcasm at the fact?
Its....complicated.

Again, it's complicated. I've tried to expound a little before and basically got told by one or two of the usual trolls that I didn't have any idea what I was talking about and gave up.
If they are I would imagine all leases go to a LLC run by a principal in Yute.
My understanding was that at least some of the aircraft are leased from Rob of Robair Repair but I could be wrong.

Is that like Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration?

Hopefully consolidation will cut down on competition a bit and lead to less pressure on pilots to fly.

Isn't that exactly what you have been doing for years? Managing a 135 in Alaska?

@Derg once told me to get up on that soapbox, son.

I care. (As it turns out, I seek to understand operations different from those that I've already done.)

Get up on that soapbox, son.

I'll take a quick stab at tldr'ing it. A lack of accurate wx forecasting or reporting coupled with a lack of ifr infrastructure makes options complicated. Throw in on top many gps approaches don't get you much below SVFR and the wx feces unexpectantly hitting the rotating disc and you get the picture.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the name RAVN somewhat sinister and evocative of mercenary contract outfits? (I've seen the place so I know it's more like Austin Powers, but for the uninitiated...??)

Oh, snap! New Contest!
I'll give my next Avfuel receipt points to the best solution to the RAVN acronym.
You know, like...
Recreant Aviators Violating Norms, or
Rural Absquatulators Venturing North, or... like that
Reclusive Agathists Vaping Nepenthe?
