AND COLGAN Q400s IT IS!!!!

You weren't, by any chance, jumpseating from Boise to LAX the day before yesterday, were you?

Im might have been....

Hey rocketman99 don't be so hard on yourself.
I think they will moreorless upgrade in the same fashion they have.
Newhires will go to FO slots in the Saab and some in the Q400, but overall they have a year to plan ahead for this.
This summer they will start pulling captains off the line, thats attrition anyway you look at it.
:nana2:

If you were the Colgan guy jumpseating on Skywest on Feb 3rd BOI-LAX, PM me. I've got a few words of jumpseating advice for whoever that was.

Can you PM me his ID number or name as well as what happened. I will have our Jumpseat Coordinator take care of what happened ASAP.

Seggy why are you so mad at me???
I'm trying to start fresh with everyone, and I feel like there is this overwhelming resentment about everything I post.

I really don't want to get into an internet pissing match on this website that has helped me out GREATLY and that I owe so much to. I am simply stating the facts for others out there to judge their own way. What the company is doing has not been consistent with what you have been saying, in terms of upgrades and you seeing the country TDY style. You also go about changing your story and there are some other things that have been brought to my attention.

About the Jumpseat issue...

If one of the guys at Colgan made an A$$ out of our company while exercising a PRIVILEDGE that can be taken away, you bet your A$$ I will protect the PRIVILEDGE and find out who it was and what they do so our JS person can take care of it so I don't lose the PRIVELIDGE.

Seggy you seem a little angry, and I not sure where it is all coming from.
I always treat jumpseating as work, professional behaviour and demeanor.
If another crew notices something that I'm doing that is inappropriate they should feel comfortable talking to me about it.
But I have never had that issue in all my years of flying.
There alot of things that go on at Colgan that not everyone is aware of, it is a very dynamic company. I'll leave it at that, because I will not be discussing my upgrade status any further on jetcareers.
Please don't be mad at me, I really don't think it's good karma for anyone.
We are all pilots working at the same place, and we all need to work together.

While I don't have actual numbers, I can guarantee you the q400 will be able to maintain a higher speed to the marker and then dirty-up and resume a "normal" approach. I know in the Saab we can maintain higher speeds, longer on any approach than the jets. After all, we have those giant barndoors hanging on the wings.

No offense, but we've been slowed down significantly 30+ miles out from airports when following Colgan's SAABs. Just because they can fly the last 5 miles faster doesn't mean they mesh well.

Another example - when I would fly with students to PHX in a Baron, we would routinely have 40-50 knot overtakes on AMF 99's on final. Does that mean the Baron meshed well? No, the 99 could outperform the Baron in every category.

Ok, I'm certain that's true, for some Saab's. For certain maintanence issues, we can only fly 180 knots. Others are just pigs and don't go very fast. So yes, I can understand why EWR wouldn't want Saab's coming in there. But we're not talking about Saab's.....my post was referenced to the Q400 overall.

Here, I'll try this again:

Just because you can go fast the last few miles doesn't mean it'll mesh well. I gave an example of routinely being slowed 30+ miles away and getting put behind Colgan SAABs. It's not a bash on your plane, but it's not nearly as fast as a jet and it does slow us down. Not that I care, I get paid the same, but I just think its funny when I see you guys boast how fast you can go in the last 5 miles.

Look wheels......I'm not disputing the fact that in cruise flight, we aren't nearly as fast. NO QUESTION there. However, in the APPROACH, we can maintain the a faster speed longer. I really don't want to debate this since we are both saying the same thing.

I'm sure, it certain instances (cruise and transition to the approach), you have to slow down because you are intrail of a TP. It's unfortunate for you, but that's the way it is. However, like I said in the post you're quoting. I know in the Saab we can maintain higher speeds, longer on any approach than the jets.

So again, you're right.....but so am I. Besides, like I said before, the Q400 is an entirely different animal. You won't have the same problems you have w/ the Saab. It will be a non-issue.

Can we put this dead-horse in the ground yet?

Can I bring up an old joke just once more? Please? Ok...

Yeah, being a USAir FO is a real "Privelidge":rotfl:

Ya know I love ya man. (and no max, I don't mean it like that. I haven't converted or anything.)

Thats cause those captains don't like to take it to 249.5 knots like some other pilots do :) (ehemm IOE)

Oh, Wheels! :)

Start doing more than 250-270 in the climb and THEN complain about someone's speeds! A CRJ driver has no basis to complain to anyone about speed, yo!

Of course we're all slow to NJACaptain! :)

Well, complaining about someone else's speed is almost as lame as complaining about money. Unless you're Oprah, you don't still don't have jack! ;)

I'm writing Oprah. Maybe his'll be my chance for my big break.

My IOE instructor (formerly based in ITH) told me during my 2 days, "c'mon man, I could park my car between the barber pole and the airspeed pointer."

Some of you will know who I'm talking about.
