"and best of all, at Mesa, employees fly for free!"

Would someone put these dag gum dumbass late night cable commercials in the kill bin?

They're on, all the damned time.

The commercials are so bad, they've got the "America West Express" title blanked out.

We're waiting for SNL here at WHQ so we're watching Comedy Central that tends to run those Mesa Airlines commercials at night.

<--- This is what I think when watching those commercials.

Whew! I thought you were going to say Mesa's Jonathan Orensteen. I was going to say, "Ro-sham-bo ya!"

You know, I am not that old (or I don’t like to think I am) but I can remember, vividly, a time where you ordered cable T.V. because there were no commercials and the programs and movies were shown without interruption.

I mean, that was the whole idea of PAY T.V.

Free T.V., subsidized by ad revenue
Pay T.V., subsidized by the subscription fee, thus no ads.

What ever happened to those days I wonder? Then again this was also before the time where some genius thought to him or herself, “Hey, people like to go to the movies, right. Well, lets slap a few commercials on during the previews, yeah that’s it!”

Never mind the fact that people are already paying $10+ per ticket, and like $30 for a drink, some popcorn, and a bag of M&Ms

I kind of wonder though, as I have never seen a Mesa commercial (Needless to say we don’t get them here), what exactly do they advertise?

I mean, Mesa is an air group, right. Are the commercials ads for the group as a whole, or just the various partner airlines in the group? Sorry, couldn’t help but wonder.

And now back to your regularly scheduled Mesa bashing.

Mesa only advertises (television) in PHX. It's mostly for rampers in PHX, since they pay didly sqwat, non-union and the atrition rate is astronimical. So they advertise at night when the targeted age group 18-30 is watching the telly. They're looking for thos kids that just got out of high school, and college student looking to make some cash. They trwo out the bone (free travel) and it reels them in! Even USAirways has a high turnover rate as far as rampers go.
No one wants to work out on the sizzling summer tarmac, where temps get up to the 120's much less get inside the bins with no airflow and throw bags. When I started at Comair on the ramp I made close to $10 for the first 6 months, where it then increased to to almost $11. Mesa pays starting out $6.75.:rotfl: And I laugh at this one. USAirways recently raised it's pay to $9.00.:rotfl: I about fell over laughing. A "major" airline that pays less than some regionals. My cohorts at AA would laugh if the comapny tied to pay us that. Hell I made more than that staring off at American. I made $11 and I was just 18. At that time I was the yougest guy to work for AA in SAN. $11 was like rollin in the dough for an 18 yrs old.
