Since my last log in (November 2011) I have been busy...

I did Commercial ASEL in December 2011

I did not fly my best but the maneuvers were fine. Think I ate up a bit of discretion, but made sure I hit the power off 180 well (DPE chose threshold so you got to keep it pointed at the dirt, but it went perfectly).

Instrument Rating December 2012

Went by in a bit of a blur as the A320 rated DPE wanted everything in-between the approaches done at full throttle. Having not practiced this, I worked hard and did fine. Partial Panel GPS approach was fun.

Commercial AMEL Add-on February 2013

Not too bad since I already had the Private Multi. The single engine approach was tough, but worked out fine. We had all the steep turns, slow flight, accelerated stall earlier, still worked out as a 1.3 total time.

Now, what next?

Congrats!

I have to ask about the full throttle comment, can you elaborate? If it's not in the PTS, they can't ask you to do anything.

Oh the approaches were done at 90, but flying between then at 120. It was fine, good experience, and not a PTS item. , interesting though.

It was pretty simple really, take off from DVT, DVT.1 departure, enter the Class B, GPS approach into FFZ (partial panel), i.e. compass and VOR. Touch and go then depart to CGZ. Arc then intercept to TFD, get set up for the ILS. Do a Procedure Turn then ILS, Touch and Go, depart to the north, VOR-C approach into SDL go missed back to DVT. Good to get some background on the examiner though, like I say this one was full throttle in-between approaches and throwing chewing gum wrappers out of the window etc.

Oral was pretty quick, draw some systems, go over flight plan, discuss limitations, what would you do if... then demonstrate you know the weather charts.

Checkout flybywire22's write up too - where are you flying out of?

Alex.
