Looking for any and all info, warnings, feedback for Ameristar, based out of addison, TX.
What's it's like to work for them, equipment, staff, etc.

It's on demand freight. 24/7 on call flying not so great equipment into not so great areas. The pay sucks, but you can upgrade pretty quickly. You work 20 days on and get 10 days off. They let you kind of pick and choose the days you work.

I think the general rule is if there's "Ameri-" in the name of the company, stay far far away.
 
As a previous Employee, I can say there pay is pretty good now as of 6 months ago because of attrition. The equipment is old, but it's also a Falcon 20 which in my book, is a bad a$$, mostly capable airplane. Upgrade time is fast (5 months-year) and is a great way to get Jet Pic over 12,500 if you don't have any. you get 10-11 days off, your choice of days, off a month which is nice as well.

The BAD: you will be on the road a full 18-20 days a month. 24 hr/ day on call sitting in your hotel. long duty days. no rental cars. 1 hour call out. Be prepared for something to go wrong at least once a month with your airplane. Other than that it might be the most enjoyable flying in your career. No PAX, NO CDR, NO CVR, NO one cares.

We are looking for Falcon 20 cargo pilots:

• Preferred Minimums: 1200 Total Time, 500 Multi
• Average first year salary is approximately $50,000
• Estimated progression while employed:
o Second year approximately $60K
o Third year approximately $70K (potentially 1000 hours PIC jet logged)
o Forth year approximately $80K (flow through to our 121 airline)
o Fifth year approximately $90K (potentially 1000 hours 121 time)
o All of the above are estimates and are in no way guaranteed. These are projections based on current levels
• Upgrade to PIC on average is typically 1 year or less
• Base salary begins day 1 of training
• Customizable monthly schedule based on pilot request
• 10-11 Hard days off per month
• Per Diem $2/hour away from base
• CASS participant with numerous airline authorization agreements
• Crew members eligible for flow-through to our 121 airline operating 737, MD-83, and DC-9
• 401k matching
• Insurance – Health, Dental and Life
