Ameriflight??

When you say "get current" are you just meaning "you must know how to fly because the training is really really rally hard", or are you saying Ameriflight actually has a concrete policy where you absolutely have to get a BFR on your own time BEFORE they'll even look at your resume because they will not supply you with one. Those two ideas are completely orthogonal, yet this thread has kind of smeared them together. I'd just like you to clarify...

Why spend all this time trying to get info on a forum site?? Simply call Sherri and ask..really it's just that simple. She'll help you out and let you know AMF policy. Not only that then your resume could be pulled to the top so she can look at it. But don't go in with the same attitude you've shown us..she'd probably can that resume before you hung up the phone. Just fix the 'tude man. People will bend over backwards to help you out. You're not the first person to tick off so many people in your first 15 posts on this forum.

Pretty much both. The 135 ride will count as a BFR, however, with as many people applying who are current, why would they want to take the risk? Also, I think I read that you don't have a current medical? That is a must. Why send you to training if they are not sure if you can get a medical?

You got PHX and a training capt position? Dude that's awesome! How's things?

Yup. :) Things are good, should be in the 99 soon... How's SLC going for ya?

OH SNAP! Were you a direct hire training captain, and if so when did you get hired (I'm trying to figure out if we've met)?

No. I was hired about a year ago, and right after my initial checkride Sheri asked me if I wanted to be a training captain.

Harry,

In the final analysis, aviation is still a really, really small world. I do my share of antagonizing people on here, and it's not always "just in fun", but I try really hard to listen to them, too. Notice I didn't say "immediately explain how the post has nothing to do with what I said" or "dismissively bloviate". This "listening" stuff has done me way more good than having a sharp tongue or a ready wit. I predict that it would do the same for you, were you to try it. Figure maybe, what, around page 5 of everyone disagreeing with you, ya might start to think "Hmm, wonder why?"

Have at it champ.
God I can only hope guys with a good attitude get a job before you. This community is too small to have clowns like you in it. I could give a crap honestly if you take mine or anyone else's advice. I only continue to reinforce my point in case there is a lurker who wants to learn and doesn't have your one track mind.
I don't know your history but I'm not surprised your currency lapsed....perhaps nobody wants to deal with you. 135 single pilot freight would actually be your only avenue because god knows no one would want to spend a 4-day with you. Too bad "pretty good" doesn't cut it for most freight shops.

Good luck maturing as a person. I'd work on that and worry about getting hired in a few years.

To anyone working at Ameriflight, I have a question. I submitted my resume back when the posting was, well posted. Anyway, I waited about a week and a few days and called. I spoke with Ms. Sherri Hudson, and she said that she was going to get back with me as she was going to try to arrange for me to do interview/sim in DFW. She told me that she would call me a few days before Christmas but she never did. I tried calling her again after New Years and still was not able to get a hold of her. Things sounded great with her on the phone and that I passed the phone interview portion. I guess I'm confused as I am new to the 135 world. Did I get discarded after all, maybe just lost in a pile somewhere? Should I call again?? For anyone thats interested, my times are:

TT 1300
Instrument Actual/Simulated: 11.3/94.0
First Class medical just expired on the 31st of January but am about to get another one.
BFR Current
Instrument Current and I feel that I'm pretty strong (I may need brush up on NDB's though, which I will do before I'd interview). I'm able to keep my instrument currency usually every 2 months (4 or 5 instrument aproaches per month with holds).
Current CFI, unfortunately not CFI/I or MEI

Another question, are people getting hired with times similar to mine?? Thanks for any advice or suggestions, I promise I won't take offense to any that is given :)

I don't have to wonder. I know why people are piling on me. If theres a disagreement, and theres one person on one side, who has zero "cred", and theres 15 people on the other side, with mountains of "jc cred", what do you think would happen? No one posting in this thread are going after me because what I'm saying is wrong. They're going after me because I dare go against someone which those people want to be "in" with. Since I could care less about how many e-friends I get here, I don't mind it.

Wow, more condescending advice from someone not even remotely qualified to give it, given as a thinly veiled attempt to feel superior about ones self, disguised as "helpful friendly advice dude". This thread just keeps on giving. What are you, Dr. Drew now? You really think saying this stuff will make people look up to you more? You really think people are that dumb? Not even I would scoop that low.

Well, I'd imagine you've convinced every current and former Amflight pilot on you're that you're that dumb, so...you know, keep on keepin' on.

People here can help you or hurt you. They're giving you no reason to help you, and the folks here are not anonymous people behind a keyboard.

I'd give her a call back and leave a message with one of the secretaries if she's not there.

Definitely give her a call back. I think she was on vacation for a week over New Year's so I'm sure your info is somewhere in the pile. Keep calling like every 20 min to get a hold of her bc sometimes that's what it takes! Your times are above mins and that's all that matters..just get that medical! Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I will call her back then. Is she usually in on the weekend?? Probably not but either way, Monday at the latest. I forgot to mention in the post earlier that I have 187 multi. So are there people getting hired with times similar to mine? Are they still hiring? Thanks again everyone.

Nope not there on the weekends.

.

wait... What? You think jc is a popularity contest? This isn't a forum of 8th graders. Spend some time on here and you can see Jtrain and mikecweb are polar opposites on certain issues.

I never stated my qualifications at any point in this thread so I'm not sure how you came up with that answer. Who would be qualified? Not the check airman who have responded? How about the Delta 767 pilot? Perhaps the wannabe lawyer ;) ?

Harry,

You don't seem like a dumb guy, but I posit that you've a lot to learn about how this industry works. I have only good intentions when I say (I'm from SDF too, "where'd you go to high school?") do yourself a favor and just let it go. Erase your account, lay low for a while, and start over again. We all have really long memories because we don't have a lot to think about most of the time. As a totally disinterested observer but a guy who has run his mouth too much on the internet in the past, let me bluntly tell you that you're digging holes you don't want to try to dig yourself out of.

It really is amazing how many pilots are on JC. Even if they only lurk most of the time, there are many people on here reading what you post. I have not made a lot of effort in actually meeting people from the forums here (went to one little get together in DFW, thats it), but I personally know about 20 pilots who i have worked with that visit this forum on a regular basis. making yourself out to be a jerk when people are helping you isnt the best idea. you never know who youre going to end up meeting in "real life" (or working for, or interviewing with, etc.)
