Heckle Austin on Tuesday. For the last few indoc classes it's actually been me up there on Tuedsay morning doing the ATC/IFR Procedures portion of indoc.
Gallagher is the bomb, he'll do the jumpseating presentation.
Bring your library of books with you to class.
Don't stress too much, it's not as bad as you might think. The worst parts are the Ramada and the self induced stress.

Some have HSI's some don't No RMI or ADF that I have seen. Whats an A/P or GPS?
Some questions to ask
Why are we not allowed to jumpseat on our own company aircraft?
When is the next pay raise for pilots?
Why sign the integrity contract when encourage to lie (call in sick) if unable to make a showtime due to delayed or cancelled flights ie: commuting
Don't let Bob get under your skin
Take notes
Study the FARs they give you to study
Practice the flows, Remember the Checklist
Lock and double lock the doors at the Ramada
Sleep with a gun or knife at the Ramada
Bring bug repellent for the Ramada
Plan to have car broken into at the Ramada
Ignore the hookers at the Ramada
Don't wake me up in the pilot lounge unless its to preflight the plane!

We have HSI's in most of the fleet. Some chieftans have autopilots. The autopilots are usually different from plane to plane. The 99's don't have autopilots. Just about all of the Metro's and 1900's have autopilots and RMI's. Groundschool isn't to bad. Just make sure you take it seriously and you should be fine. Most people that wash out because of he sims.

They're taking anyone that they can get who won't make smoking holes in the ground. Basic IFR skills are the problems of the people washing out. If you don't have the ground work in place, it will add to the difficulty of learning how to fly the AMF way. The sim is not too difficult to fly.

In my class of fourteen, 3 flunked the written, 1 quit due to getting JM'ed during BIGS to PDX despite living in BUR, 1 left to fly King Airs, And 4 flunked out during the sims. So 5 out of 14 made it to the seniority list.
AMF was a blast!! And the times that really suck are kinda funny as time passes!

I was early fall 2005. Citabria's story with the crossing out of the "nt" had become legendary by that time.
Deicing your iced over airplane with a weed sprayer/mini ice scraper in a dark snowstorm in the middle of nowhere when its -10 and blowing 40 knots can only truly be recognized as funny after one has moved on from AMF.

Too good, I still laugh about the crossing of the NT.
I suppose in line of the funny things would be using your fuel strainer to chip ice off the leading edge after landing so you can depart again (faster than bug sprayer). Wait, it's not funny yet since I haven't left. At what point can you say it has officialy become very humorous? Is there a time limit where you have to bite your tongue?
