Apparently Eagle is hiring like mad this week.![]()
Are you kidding me. Ten years and still not one pilot hired? Only let go? When will this nightmare end?
Isn't that when the world ends?
Yeah but AA pilots made their bed. Didn't they want flowthru and flowback? This is especially interesting considering that the arbitration for the 200+ Eagle Captains that were wrongfully denied class dates at American is pending remedy.
Now the 'four parties' (APA, ALPA, AA, AE) are meeting to develop a remedy, which seems unlikely. The result would be the arbitrator would decide once the four parties have attempted to do it themselves.
Seems like AMR is throwing a wrench in good vibes between APA and ALPA- if the APA has pilots hitting the streets, the 200+ pilots potentially going over aren't going to be warmly received. Double whammy- by seniority, those pilots have AA numbers that are nearly a decade deep, ie, they'll be bidding into positions potentially displacing other AA pilots.
Another gooey, sour mess at the AMR family. Yay!
Good point. I am sure APA wasn't bitter about the deal back in 2001-2003 when they were flowbacking pilots into captain seats on the CRJs.Yeah but AA pilots made their bed. Didn't they want flowthru and flowback?
It just seems like they are pissed that it's not working out like they thought it would. I bet most of them never spent 5+ years in the right seat making $30-$40k/yr either.

Hired one week, hit by an asteroid the next. If that's not irony I don't know what is.
The real travesty is that many of these furloughees are probably being let go for the second time. They presumably left good jobs (found during their first furlough) because they put their faith in American Airlines to provide them with more than a job -- a career.
They placed a bet on the fate of one of the largest airlines in the world that its management would be able to strategically plan their staffing so as not to have to lay off again. Instead, American used these people as "temp" workers ... weekend and holiday help.
It is both a sad and disgusting commentary on this profession. More sad, however, is that they will never suffer from a lack of applicants (should they ever need to hire again). People will crawl all over each other for the chance to be treated the way these men and women were treated -- again.
(And don't even get me started on the growth of an affiliate at the expense of mainline jobs...)

More victims of the Age 65 abomination.
Anyone know where these pilots were based or if those furloughed were type specific?
