American Partners with Jetblue

Starting in summer 2010, American and American Eagle will expand the routes and service they offer customers from New York. Including previously announced additions, by year end at LaGuardia and JFK combined, American and American Eagle will add 31 total flights to and from 13 additional routes, bringing total NYC departures to 216 and unique destinations to 63. Today's announcement includes seven new destinations served on 23 new roundtrip flights. When combined with new options for travel on JetBlue, American's New York customers will have access to 81 unique destinations on 271 nonstop flights by the end of 2010. In addition, American serves four destinations with 18 daily departures out of Newark (N.J.) Liberty International Airport.

A couple of years ago they were trying to run each other into the ground.

I think they're joining forces to fight Delta. Wonder if this would have happened if the slot swap looked like it was going to die a quick death.

Strange times. Kellwolf is right- it's a team up to fight Delta and Continental.

Internal company emails, etc, have stated as much.

So yeah, there goes the CRJ fleet in Dallas. Looks like an upcoming vacancy displacement bid. AGAIN.

If I get pushed out of DFW.. AGAIN... I'm going to be very upset.

Stan should hold a good line on the EMB.:chair:
That's the plan if Eagle tries this nonsense of attempting to move all the CRJ's out of DFW...again. Didn't work 4 years ago and it won't work now. The reason: ORD does not have the physical gate space to accomodate the CRJ's.

Whatever the case, I'm not going to worry about it until there is a displacement bid and I'm in IOE on the EMB. The last time the company tried this, there were pilots literally in training for the aircraft they had displaced to...and Eagle turned right around and brought the CRJ's back to DFW.

Some egg-head in a cubical came up with this without looking at the history.

That's my take anyway.

Those of ya'll on the EMB in DFW: Get ready to go bye-bye (to another base) when those of us on the CRJ displace to hold DFW.

Well, by way of an update: We received a company e-mail today informing us that all of the 22 new CRJ's will be based in LGA with the remainder going to ORD. 3 will remain in DFW.

They said that they do not plan on displacing the DFW CRJ crews, but plan on using us to staff the 3 remaining CRJ's in DFW (umm....we have over 50 CA's and 50 FO's on the thing in DFW.....tell me how they don't plan on displacing us.....SOMEWHERE else...be that ORD or the EMB??).

At any rate, as I previously mentioned: I'll worry about it when the displacement bid comes out, I am awarded an EMB class for my DFW base, and I am in IOE.

At the end of last year, Eagle announced their plan to have 11 CRJ's in DFW by the end of the year, so as we can see, in the matter of months, things can and will change.

I will, however, be updating my displacement bid ASAP.

Charlie my friend - sorry bro. But, we CRJ boys are comin' your way. I have no other viable choice. I'm not going to ORD and certainly not going to LGA. I can't afford either.

No worries, my man. That's what seniority is for. I might even try a walk on the wild side and displace into the CRJ if that happened. If my relative seniority in ORD in the CRJ or EMJ was high enough, I could hold a line, make more money, and have more time off. The only downside would be the commute. Given the right schedule, that wouldn't be any big deal either. Ideally, living in base is my goal, as it avoids a host of issues.

Assuming I understand it right, we can be displaced from one jet to the another, then bid back to your original jet. CRJ runs with left over first class meals might not be too bad.

We'll see how it pans out, I guess. I'd expect updated vacancy bids in the next week or two.

I heard they aren't going to displace the CRJ guys in DFW because they are mostly flowthroughs, so the company is going to takeaway there QOL so they will want to flow to AA. just a rumot

Nice rumor, but it won't work. Many of them are commuters anyway. Secondly, this move to not displace, but use pilots from DFW to staff LGA is going to be cost prohibitive. It won't last. I predict a displacement bid in less than 6 months after more than 5 CRJs are operating regularly out of LGA.

Oddly, when I heard they weren't going to displace, I thought it was more an effort to placate the pilots, not screw them....even though I know it won't last. A displacement bid. Count on it.
