American Flyers

I'm looking at various flight schools to do my intrument thru CFI's at. Then I plan to instruct for awhile to build my time. Can anyone tell me about their experience with AMerican Flyers -especially the Orlando,FL location? I visited there and spoke to them a bit. But would like to know more info from former/current students about the program itself -
how you progress through training, etc.

as well as actual cost of the school for what I'm trying to do.

How is it instructing there afterward?

PS. Any other suggestions for schools that would be a good deal + good quality?

I actually earned my PVT at a location in IL and there are some good and bad things about the way they do things there. Any costs quoted to you are going to be on the low end. I actually wasted more money there than I want to think about because of the way they do things and because at the time I didn't have the courage to stand up for myself because I thought that instructing there was the be all to end all. Some problems I had was they charged me for ground instruction time even when I did a lot of the preflight prep. I remember once I got there and went out and preflighted the plane, waited for the fuel truck (25 min), showed the instructor my flight plan and was told I did great, filed the flight plan, he checked the oil and in the end tried to charge me for 1.5 hours of ground time. I stood up on that one. The other thing they do is schedule you with different instructors almost every time you go up, so many times I wasted time learning the same manuever but perfecting someone elses pet peeves instead of moving on and that was a pain. I think in the long run you'll do better anywhere else but there, especially if you are just getting started.

Hey,
First off welcome to the forums! There is a lot of info on here so take your time and learn as much as possible.

About your question, I personaly have not attended American flyers so I can't make any comments about them.
Take some time in the "Flight Training" forums and see what they have to say.

I will be going to ATP coming up next March/April. One thing that drew me to them was the fact that they quote you a solid price on there programs (PPL and Airline Career Pilot). The price is final. They will not charge you any more than they advertise. That and the fact the housing is included as well.
Just something to think about. But like I said, take a look around the forums. There is so much to learn
