American Eagle questions.. (uniform stuff mostly)

standard pilot shirt.. doesn't mater where it's from, same with the pants, just match the color to the jacket or you look like a retard. Haagar Cool 18 seems popular for the pants, I personally have no problem with the company VF solution pants though, they last forever. Pleated front or non pleated.. Just Find ones from a company that actually fit you. Pilotshirts.com has nice tapered cut shirts

BTW,you still have to carry your own jeppesen charts?

what about Ipad?

Yes, you need to carry your own charts. When on reserve, you'll have to bring all of your charts. While holding a line, you can limit how much you carry.

The iPad is in the works, but nothing set in stone about that.

On the iPad- I'm in school and last week the director of safety was in and told us they are very very close. You'll have to own your own iPad and use will be restricted to non-sterile environments. Not sure how that's gonna work with approach plates. But whatever.

Besides clothes...is the bad supposed to hold everything? like clothes, shaving kit, pilot gear...etc.

I'll bite...

Some guys fill their bag with booze, some with tuna fish, others with clothes. Pack what you need, and not what you think you 'might' need otherwise you will look like one of the 68 year old flight attendants who can't carry all their own stuff, even when its attached to their roll aboard!

For me personally, anything related to actually flying the plane fits in my kit bag, though I know some of the guys keep a manual or two in their roll aboard to lighten the load in the kit bag. In my roll aboard I have one spare pair of uniform pants, and a couple spare uniform shirts in addition to all the necessities such as undershirts, boxers, socks, etc. Generally I will only pack one set of casual clothes per trip, appropriate to the climate/overnights. I also carry running shoes, and a shirt and pair of shorts of a material that will allow them to dry quickly after handwashing them in the sink (i'm too cheap to pay for laundry at an overnight, and a stinky bag won't do). Of course the essential toiletries are in there as well. Laptop, charger, phone charger fill the side/back pockets, and any remaining space is dedicated to food. I did the crew cooler thing for a while, but found most of the stuff i filled it with did not need to be kept cool, and i much prefer traveling light.

Your mileage may vary depending on reserve or line holder, living in base or commuter, and length of trips. Just start off packing what you think you need, and then after your trip take the things out that you didn't use and replace them with those things you wish you had at 1 am in midland tx.
