American Eagle or Iberia???

Okay so heres the deal. I finally have the opportunity to leave my current job at the TSA at ORD. I make a decent penny, but for the sake of my sanity, I have to get out of there. I have two job offers which will get me working for an airline again. I used to be a Passenger Service Agent for AA, and have had the itch to go back ever since I was laid off. Which should I take?

1. A position with American Eagle on the ramp as a Fleet Service Clerk. Management has yet to inform me if this will be FT or PT.

2. A FT Passenger Service Agent position with Iberia Airlines.

Anyone have some advice on this situation? Oh yeah, they both pay less than the TSA.

I dunno what kind of benefits you will get with Iberia, but I am sure you are aware what you will get with AE. Fleet service? Yuck. Have you considered SWA at MDW??? You will get far more benefits there than you will with AMR. Their free medical and dental for employees alone will save you $100/mo. Plus, you get free unlimited travel, profit sharing and a decent 401K. Just a thought. My SWA profit sharing, a gift to me from the company accrued over the 15 years I put in there, is now worth over $80K. If the stock ever sees $30/share again it will be $170K+. AMR can't touch that and they treat you far better.

Thanks for the advice on SWA! I had no idea the profit sharing was so good!

Doug, if one of these pan out I will definetly see you in Las Vegas. Hope to see you then brother.

Dude, the profit sharing ALMOST made me re-think leaving in Aug. If I stayed for another three years (what I would need to for the vesting to take hold), I would get almost an extra $10K in company stock. Just from last year, I got $3500 in company stock from profit sharing. Now I'm gonna let all that go to chase pilot jobs. I must be crazy.....

Well, hopefully you can turn than money around pretty quickly. Have you had any doubts about it since you actually did it?

I haven't left SWA yet. My last day is sometime the last week of July. We'll see how it goes. I've been having a run of good luck lately, so I hope that holds out.
