American Eagle Job Fair LAX today

AA must be desperate, A recruiter of theirs have e-mailed me a couple times telling me that as soon as I meet ATP's TT reduced mins, to let them know and they will get me an interview ASAP, and Im only at 250/140

They must be, because I just came back from Borders and in this months issues or Airliners they have a full spread and are on the cover...

A lot of people cringed when they heard that AE won't look at you if you have any type of alcohol offense within the past 5 years. Even after five years pass, there's a good chance you won't even be looked at then.
Don't know where you heard that Eagle won't hire you if you've got an alcohol offense. I had a DUI from 1991 and was hired last year. All they did was ask me two questions about it - something to the effect of "Do you have any DUI's?" I said yes. They asked "When?" I told them. That was it.

As for them doing away with the "NASA" medical.....that's news to me. I know they dropped the cognitive portion of the exam late last year or early this year. Hadn't heard that they did away with the medical completely though. If they did, they did.

Personally, I didn't think the medical was that big of a deal. But, that's just me.

As for working at Eagle: It's a great company to work for. The maintenence is excellent. The equipment is very nice. There's a lot of experience here to draw off of.

My only gripe is the attitude of scheduling towards the flight crews (and visa-versa I'm sure). It's not a pleasant relationship in the least. But, if you can deal with it, and we all must, then you're good to go. Once you hold a line, you rarely deal with them again.

Just my $0.02

R2F <= American Eagle CRJ FO 1+ years and counting.

But not if ya can't afford to eat on your $22k salary...:buck:
Definitely something to think about. The first year for me (married, with a child, a mortgage, etc.) was tough. Very very tough. If my wife didn't have an extremely good-paying job, I truly believe we couldn't have met our financial obligations.

Like I said they look back five years. If my math is right, that would have been 15 years ago.

Yeah...guess the bolded part of your comment threw me:

But, what do I know? I just work for American Eagle. I'll leave it to the experts who don't.

Sorry for all the confusion here, but like I said, "good chance" meaning there is still a possibility you can be hired like yourself. You did the right thing by telling the truth about your DUI.

Thanks, but it really wasn't about "doing the right thing." It's about full disclosure. The company does a background check and it would be on the results.

While the DUI is nothing to be proud of, it's there, it's an eternal part of my history and I've had to answer questions about it in just about every job interview I've had since I earned it.

There are a lot of factors that go into a DUI. Can it destroy your career? Yup, sure can. Can you get past it with the right set of circumstances? Yup, sure can.

I always thought the DUI was the kiss of death in aviation.
Could be. Depends on how recent it was. As AirVenture said: if it was in the last five years, it's going to he a whole lot harder to get in as opposed to 10-15 years.

Fortunately, for me, 15 years seemed to be a comfortable distance for A.E.

I suppose, but do not know for a fact, that there are some companies who wouldn't give me the time of day because of my infraction - regardless of my experience and the length of time passed.
