American Eagle desperately looking to hire you

It's possible that someone has already posted this, but American Eagle is desperately looking to hire pilots. We are very short staffed, and if you meet the mins, (and possibly even if you don't), you have a great chance at getting an interview.

Send me an email if you're interested in more information: pilot73750@yahoo.com

I've set my sights on AE as of late. I'm now a MEI, but I only have 20 hours of ME time. I also have to wait untill may/june when I graduate college.

2 questions:

1. I've always read that they're pretty firm on the 100hrs ME, which is gonna cost me $9k at ari-ben, any chance that they'll bend on this now that they're "desperate"?

2. Can I get "pre-hired"...as in can I submit an application before I graduate college or will they just get pissed off when I tell them that I'm not available untill I graduate. Also, can/should I submit an application now with my whopping 20 hours of ME?

I'm filling out an application at www.airlineapps.com right now and I'll send it to AE when I'm done...but the damn thing is taking me forever!!!! I've never seen such a comprehensive form in my life.

Do you have to be 21 to apply? I also heared they do not count "Safety pilot" time is this true?

How would they know? You aren't required to put anything in your logbook stating that you were a safety pilot for someone. I think they are getting lax on that anyways because they are so desperate.

Also, current pilots are getting a bonus for referring new pilots.

What are your times? There is no place you can get multi time without paying for it?

I have 1200TT but the airport I instruct at dosent even have a twin on field anywhere (I'm kinda rural). I'd have to get another job just for the multi-time. This means putting in a year at a part 135 operation, or being "That Guy..." at a flight school thats only there, and only cares about multi time.

80hrs of multi for 9k..is that right..? wow where are you located?

I was referring to the ubiquitous Ari-Ben time building program. It's 100 hours for $9k actually, but there is a big Astrix after it...added fees and stuff. Plus its -at least- half safety pilot time. I can rent an apache for $135/hr so doing the same thing I could get it down to $67.50/hr (see my thread in the "Networking" forum). With 2 people paying 9k for 100 hours, the flight school is getting $180/hr for their twin (more with the extras).

yea they are pretty strict about the 100 multi time. as far as the interview i wouldn't apply until you are ready to take the job offer. Maybe a month from graduation is the time to apply. Figure it takes about a week or two to get an interview and then you can accept a class date. I wouldn't apply months in advance of graduation.

they cover the flights and the hotel for the 2nd night if you pass day 1. Interviews are in Dallas....although there is one partial interview in Chicago soon I think...its in another thread.

Sure about that?

If he's not, I am. The pilot under the hood must list the safety pilot's name in their logbook, but it's simply a VFR flight for the safety pilot as far as logging is concerned.

I guess its the way you interpret the regs. I've always read that if a safety pilot is used the name needs to be listed. So on the few occasions I needed to be a safety pilot I put the name of the person of was the being the safety pilot for.
Then again if they aren't accepting safety pilot time and you include that in your PIC time why don't you just add a zero to the end of your total time and shoot for a major. Lying about your time is one of the lowest things you can do in this industry.

nobody said a word about my 50 or so hours of safety pilot time at Eagle....they didn't say anything to anyone else either as far as I know.

Although I had way more than the minimum multi time anyway...so who knows. I really don't think they care about the safety pilot time at all right now with all the people they are trying to hire. Lots of timebuilders from Ari-Ben here and half of that is safety pilot time.

I think the safety pilot time thing may have been an issue in the past when hiring was minimal but not now...

I hope I don't get in late. I live in the DFW area and would love to be based here. No way I am moving, and I would hate commuting, from what I have heard. I don't care about upgrade time. I just started instructing, and am about 330 TT no ME. I am getting my multi add-on next week, and will be building up PIC time for my MEL after that. I plan on getting my 15 PIC by doing it all as safety pilot/under the hood.

With as much as I am flying, I should get the 800 TT in no time, but the 100 multi will probably take as long as it takes to get the 470 SE time I need to get.

Anyone know when this hiring wave is expected to drop? I should have everything by August or Sept, I hope. Also, does the 4-5 hours of flight training for the multi addon count as ME time, even though I am not PIC, as far as the airlines are concerned.

eagle should be hiring for a long time, we are very short. unless the company downsizes, i don't see hiring to stop anytime soon.

Actually, no. 61.51 only says:

(3) For the purposes of logging instrument time to meet the recent instrument experience requirements of Sec. 61.57(c) of this part, the following information must be recorded in the person's logbook--
(i) The location and type of each instrument approach accomplished; and
(ii) The name of the safety pilot, if required.

No where in there does it even hint the safety pilot must log it as such. Nothing really to interpret about it.

Im at the stage where I need to decide to apply to regionals, or continue with my cfii. I have 400 TT, 100 ME, and 100 in glass. Should I build some more time before applying, or should I do it now. Ive heard stories as of late that AE has been going down to 300 TT and 100 ME. (im not to crazy about instructing, and if I could bypass it....... all the better)
