American Airlines to charge $8 for blankets (AP)

only on the 747....the rest of the fleet has decent leg room.

the leader I think is SIA with their 777 for flights inside South east Asia

I suggest you try riding along in their A340-600 in back...I wouldn't go so far as to say "decent leg room"...GREAT service, and I love plane watching in FRA, but their leg room is abysmal!

I did BKK-FRA on them in coach (747) and man it was a long flight. But the service beats the crap out of the typical US-based airline!!!

Different clientele though.

I've heard 3x the drama on a 2 hour flight from DFW to IAD than I ever do on a 10 hour flight from JFK-ATH.

Maybe it's because I ain't be talkin' no Greek and shizzle. ;)

Seems like an average domestic flight is a bag of snack mix away from a "Passengers Revolution" or ending up on cable news.

It's not gonna bother me I stopped flying with American, sorry guys, for who is a pilot for them here, but their coach class sucks. Even their business class is not worth the money...

I flew from Rio to Miami on AA last october, the FAs were pretty rude, it's a night flight, during the entire sleep time (windows closed) they never, never came to ask if I wanted anything, not asking for a martini but maybe a glass of water?

I did the flight back on TAM, because AA wanted me to switch my flight to Sao Paulo and then take a connection there (overbooking) I said no way!......On TAM, you can keep the blanket, got a toiletry kit, free headset and free alchool.

If I really need to fly on a us airline I take Delta

I don't know what equipment you flew in with TAM, but I flew on one of their A330s MIA-GRU and the seats are extremely cramped. The AVOD on the other hand is pretty good though.

You clearly aren't speaking Greek! I guarantee you there is drama on the JFK-ATH flight! :D

USAir charges for a blanket. I think the charge is $8 and includes eye shades, ear plugs, a blow up neck pillow as well as the blanket. It's yours to keep.

Not a bad deal and at least you know it's new and clean. I would imagine that American is going to offer the same type of product.

I don't have a problem with the blanket charge. What I never understood is why USAir took out the multi million dollar inflight entertainment system and turned off the laptop powerplugs. What the heck are you supposed to do on a 4-5 hour transcon flight?

Its going to be like the soup nazi within the next few years.

Passengers are going to get on the plane to find a bear trap on the seat.

Pax:"Excuse me, my seat has a bear trap in it."
FA:"You no want bear trap? $11."
Pax:"You're going to charge me $11?"
FA:"$25."
Pax:"You just said $11!"
FA:"No flight for you"*tazer*

That's why I pack heat!

I bought LCC stock for about $2 this summer and AMR for about $5.

On Friday AMR was at $8.79 and LCC was at $6.81.

Pax are cheap, charge 'em for whatever you wish, and keep looking out for the shareholders as they own the company.

These days we pay fares that are a joke compared to what they used to be. Yeah, the planes are more efficient and they pay the employees less, but, I can certainly understand the airlines charging for every little thing these days.

Caldwell NJ huh? Are the tower controllers still trying to play connect the dots using aircraft? I swear they had it out for pilots.
