American Airlines memo on captains authority

"it's good to be the King!"

"Oh Piss Boy!"

I'm sure this isn't one of those faux-old documents that was actually created in the Internet era for the purposes of satire. Or anything.
Ya, I mean where's the portion about not touching anything unless the FE says it's ok to?

My co-pilot is typically my non-pilot wife. She makes most the decisions and critiques my flying.

Only captains are pilots. Everybody knows that.

I was doing a PA yesterday afternoon before departing Belize talking about how the copilot would be flying us to Atlanta, blah blah blah and I thought, "Crap! Now our passengers are going to panic because they'll assume something is wrong!" :)

I need to assemble my repertoire of PA materal, and develop that steely man-voice that you're apparently supposed to have. As it is, I sound like this:

With all the clarity and tone quality of a Chatty Cathy doll. Content wise, I'm sure I can do better than "If you look out the right side of the aircraft, you'll see a big wing", but sometimes it's tough.

OTOH, I used to fly with a guy at my old outfit that was actually a radio DJ at one point, and he was just as bad, just in the other direction. Flying with him was always like the drive-time morning zoo on 103 WSHE ("Shes only rock-n-roll").

"I'm not just the copilot, I'm the captain's sex adviser. He told me, "If I want your f***ing opinion, I'll ask for it!"

A good co-pilot is to be seen not heard.

I would love to see the memos for the FAs. I imagine it is something along the lines of 'Hello, My Name is Jerry Marshal. A good stewardess doesn't say no to the FIRST PILOT, ever. Giggity! P.S. If you get pregnant you're fired.'
