American Airlines job fair

Determining what? I fly with new hires weekly and it always comes up where they came from. From there it’s pretty easy to tell if they’re a female/minority.

Like I said just making an observation.

It sounded more declarative than observational.

I've flown with a lot of new hires over the years and I can tell you most were men, I don't recall their races and have no clue where they fell on the Kinsey Scale.

Perhaps the American Airlines team had some successful introductions at WAI, OBAP and NGPA this year and awarded interviews? I think that would be a good thing because the outreach worked.

I don’t think you realize that it’s very rare to fly with an all civilian, non-flow new hire at AA these days. So the ones I do fly with are quite easy to remember. Through September there were only 50 of them. Someone mentioned 2.5 to 1 female so that means 15 males. Couple in the fact that I’m on a small fleet so maybe only 5-10 make it here.

Like I said it was just my observation but the numbers support it as well.

Idk how anyone got interviews I’m just pointing out what I see. I’m glad to have everyone on board.

What does that say about the hiring of minorities at the regionals? Nowadays, they’re so desperate for bodies they hire everyone, but back when the flows were hired?
It says the minorities (*cough* females) made it out before they became lifers

I really don’t know the makeup of men to women at the regionals but I would postulate that it’s a lot lower than the ratio they are getting hired at. Women in general just don’t want to be pilots, almost every woman I’ve flown with has been excellent which is a better ratio than the males!! I think it’s obvious there is a skew and it sucks for those OTS hires which is what makes a flow nice, a good backup.

Despite what you read there are still a ton of very good, qualified guys at the regionals who want to GTFO.

Like I said most are fine. But the bad ones are awful. And I most definitely care bc I have to work with them all the time and they will represent a large percentage of our pilot group in a few years.

There should definitely be an interview required before you can flow. The guy I’m currently flying with is a prime example.
Probie report, you are the last line of defense before we all have to sit next to them for 30-35 years...

Network planning just announced 900 to be hired in 2018.
Is that for AA?

I keep reminding myself of the phrase

“These are the good ol’ days”

I keep waiting for the train to hit me, it just can’t get any better than we have it now.

Judging by what I hear on line and on here with all the “women and minorities” BS, can you blame them?

If that’s how you feel, you likely have the wrong significant other.
Not really. I just wouldn’t want to mix my personal life with a recruiting event that could potentially lead to a job. If I’m there, I wouldn’t want any distractions. You’d bring your SO to this event or the Delta Career Expo if that was an option?
