2 days until the bankruptcy announcement I bet.


I think RR realized that they were just bait for more VC money. That’s a bad look for RR.
 
Dassault had a look in the late 90's
Guldstream X-54A was to use RR Tay's
Aerion was going to use JT8's and they're Tango Uni
Virgin had a concept plane that never went anywhere
GE Aviation seemingly gave up on the Affinity engine
General Electric, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce have all been in and out of multiple supersonic projects over the decades.

There's always a new alliance similar to CFM or IAE with different partners.

I'm guessing open rotor on subsonic aircraft is really the next profitable project (See GE Safron's concept)

Because that's the only real factor here, is it profitable?
