A friend of mine sent me these pics a few days after 331 went off the runway. Didn't realize how close they came to the drink...eek.

yea, yellow things look BAD for a pilot. They must have been still flying, that runway looks gigantic compared to the airplane

Maybe, maybe not. KIN is a funny airport and I think there is a lot more to the story then just landing long.

For those who want to see just how far down the runway they touched down on a rainy day, with a tailwind, and a large aircraft. The airport is not funny at all, 747's and 777's land on this runway daily! Pilots were told circle for 30 multiple times, they decided to take their chances landing with a tailwind (with full knowledge), they land halfway down a runway and instead of opting to go around, again with these conditions.

There are also some false claims that the runway lights were not opperating at the time. The runway lights were functioning at the time of the accident, it was the Approach Lighting System that was not in working order at the time. If they had followed advice of ATC as the other 3 flights that came in at around the same time, this would not have happened. This accident is basically the PIC making one bad decision after another and his last one was landing halfway down the runway in torrential rains with a tailwind...

Well, the 737 is actually a pretty small airplane.

Shut up, Polar, I know I know... Sheesh! ;) :sarcasm:

Wow, I'm certainly glad we've got the NTSB, company and union safety investigators rather than a legion of keyboard commandoes doing a virtual crash investigation!

Do you know AA SOP for KIN?
I don't but I do know Eagle's, and if they are the same then like I said there is a lot more to the story.

No, I don't know it. Just going by what the JCAA and the NTSB have stated and gone through so far. Btw, this may be a little off topic but did you also go to Ari Ben?
