Friday October 24, 12:15 pm ET
PHOENIX (Dow Jones)--America West Holdings Corp.'s America West Airlines (NYSE:AWA - News) and the Air Line Pilots Association (News - Websites) International reached another tentative agreement after three years of negotiations and a failed ratification vote earlier this year.
The tentative three-year contract agreement for the airline's 1,700 pilots is subject to ratification by ALPA membership, America West said in a press release Friday. The vote will begin around Nov. 1.
Terms weren't disclosed.
The carrier anticipates results of the ratification process could come as early as Dec. 1.
In March, pilots in the ALPA union declined to ratify the tentative contract agreement reached in December 2002, calling it "substandard."
The Associated Press reported in September that the new pilot's contract would hinge on whether the two sides could agree on pivotal issues including retirement, job protection, and work rules.
America West Holding's New York Stock Exchange (News - Websites) -listed Class B shares were trading recently at $11.96, down 45 cents, or 3.6%.
