Oh but wait the new BMW commercials now say that your car keeps in constant contact with the dealership to alert them to any potential problem to prevent a major/expensive problem form occuring.
They then call you on your cell phone or something in the car simliar to Onstar to tell you your car is in need of service.

Guess some peoples X5 on the board is going to calling the service dept alot...lol!!!

actually, my car hasn't been in the shop since! it's been running pretty good without any major hassles.. I do agree that german cars have a higher "safety" standard.. i mean, look at the volvo's alone!

but as far as maintenance goes, yea.. they are more high maintenance than any other car.

Those are Swedish (I think). Or American, since Ford owns 'em now.

But Mercedes and BMW definitely do have high safety ratings. Of course, when you're dropping the kind of coin you do with those, they better be!

Yes, the Volvo is a Swedish built car. Depending on the MB or BMW you get it could be made in SC or AL. I really injoyed the Volvo we had, and when I get another car, I most likely will return to the Volvo line. My MB hasn't had the issues like Kristies BMW, but I have had have continue to develope small issues over time, and the mileage is still low.
 
It's pretty bad when your service manager looks you in the eye, looks both ways and says:

"I wouldn't own one of these cars out of warranty to save my life..."
