It is a good thing to have a hobby, and one that you enjoy. As for being weird, if you notice yourself talking about aviation all time, then perhaps you are a little weird.

You should see some of the people that I see, WEIRD, all they want to do is talk about airplanes, ahhhh! Oh well.

Haha well when im passing my periods, our school is like 30 miles straight out from LAX, so i look up and watch all the flights inbound.

And at lunch, i sit with my friends, and point out the 12:50 arrival into LAX every day.:rawk:

Nooooooooo your not and any case no one is weird what is normal anyway? If it is any consulation I also love the sport fencing, Sword fights ya know that kinda of thing I have plenty of pics of me in my white gear and mask! I love flying and real heavy Metal ya know Rock music and seen plenty of gigs and I like to be a little on the mad side and have a good time but Aviation was my first love and yeah Bigey, I also look out of my friends car window and look up at the Aeroplanes myself and tell my friend how many I've seen in 5 minutes and I accept thats me a bit crazy but my friends love it and so do I. Its all Rock 'N' Roll no matter what!:)
Love life and enjoy what you love most!:)
 
Basically do whatever makes u happy, forget being well rounded, i love aviation and thats what im sticking to now.....for example when it comes to girls i always use jokes with me and me flight team...like if they reject u....."the tower just made u go around, or rejected landing" stupid stuff like that, every thing i do is related to aviation, so who cares it makes me happy....whatever, maybe when im 40 and have 10 kids ill start to be well rounded or whatever

You know what I thought was one of the coolest things about NJC? Very little talk about airplanes. We talked a little bit about the sim ride, but for the most part, there was very little talk about airplanes and flying.

And that's just the way I like it. Look, I like flying as much as the next guy, but the bottom line is, there's a lot more to me than that.
 
Part of my mission is not hooking up people with contacts that could help, but want to help.

I got the biggest kick out of the Short One, when she starter to talk about simulator ride, she sounded like an old pro pilot!!:)

Well this might surprise some but when I was young I was a huge aviation dork. My mom said that I first got the aviation bug at age 2. When she was picking my dad up at the airport. She said that after that I always had a unquenchable thirst for aviation.
She would say that I would "fly" my finger around pretending it was airplane when I was younger. When I got older say around middle school age she tells me that I graduated to "flying" sticks around pretending they were airplanes.
I happened to live about 5 miles west of TUS growing up. So I could sit outside on my fence or upstairs and watch the planes fly over on arrival or departure. On some weekends but more so in the summer my mom would drop me off at the airport in the morning and pick me up around 5-6pm.
I'd spend the whole day at the airport watching the planes and takeoff. I even remember harassing pilots in the terminal that I now know only had a few minutes between flights to grab something to eat.
I still remember vividly harrassing a TWA MD-80 co-pilot. Following him into the bathroom and standing beside him "doe eyed" at the urinal asking him questions about the plane he flies and how much he makes.
I knew all the departure and arrival times for all commercial traffic into or out of the airport. Like the 11:20am Braniff flight from TUS-MCI.
I still have a great and buring passion for aviation.
But like has been said previous aviation is something that gets under your skin and inside your soul. But like all things it isimportant to have balance in your life something that defines you other then your job or your passion for avaition.
Your only 15 (Bigey) so though I joke around with you no your not crazy at all. However if as you age aviation is all that defines you and you can do nothing more than talk or relate everything in your life to aviation then you'll be one said sorry individual...however talking to you I'm doubting that will occur.

Dude...Bigey is 15 yrs. old so he gets a pass. But if your older then 18 you need to get a life. Not trying to be mean but what you said above sounds kinda lame & pathetic!

Agreed Tony. I think that's why I had so much dang fun at NJC. We all love airplanes, but friendships were forming based on things much deeper than that. We all were good people, fun to hang with, had a good time, and developing some lasting friendships. If airplanes came up, we'd talk it, but it wasn't the focus.

Of course, when you kick off the weekend with the three S's (sushi, sake, and stripper poles), it's hard to talk flying! :D

Loving airplanes is great. But being well-rounded is a must. This doesn't just go with flying... it goes with everything. If I worked at Initech, I wouldn't want to talk computers and TPS reports all day. I'd like to talk about other things, like Kung Fu, and the hot waitresses at Chatchkes, too.

Ahh thanks for the kind words.

The only extremes i dont go with is as one said "go around" for a chick and stuff. I'll gaze, and wonder, what the flight deck are doing at that precise minute, can they see the runway in sight or for that matter, the airport, wheres the flight coming from etc. It's funny, when im actually flying, or at the airport with my CFI, it's less talk about flying, more talk about life in general, school, girls, and stuff. When im out just chilling, im thinking about aviation. Go figure.

Thank god i get to occupy my time when i get my car. Plan to do autocrossing!:rawk:

I think you need a Hyundai Elantra/Sonata or a Kia Rio as your first car there future speed demon. Or it's tickets for you...

Well, I think I was flying a little high after all the sake and liquor we consumed. So I guess flying came into it :cool:

And if you worked at Initech, you'd have to talk about channel nine, too, man!
 
Obviously, everyone should be well rounded. Flying a 12 day trip with someone that could only talk about flying would get pretty old. That doesn't mean that if you have a passion for it that it is necessarily far from your mind. It is not all that different than being in love with someone, where you obviously still think about, and do, a lot of other things, but thoughts of the person come into your mind fairly often, regardless.

I think that is more what he was getting at. I think it is sad that so many seem to lose that passion for flying ever, and so often so surprisingly early on in their career.

Do I like other things? Sure, I spend more time playing my guitar than flying, I spend more time with my kids, etc. However, I still look up when I hear an airplane fly over, or a picture of an airplane still will catch my eye.

oh man, you should hear some of my engineering friends.. they drone on and on about work..work..work...get them in a happy hour situation and you can tell whose more well rounded and who isnt lickitysplit!

Haha im not even allowed to get those kind of cars.

Parents wont buy me any other car than german due to safety.

Please, someoen dont pull up "highway institution" tests for civic or anything and say "it got 5 stars."

Our family friends have been in accidents in VERY similar scenarios in BMW's and Benzes, and japanese cars, one being in a civic. People in german cars walked out unharm, civic held up good, but did cause some neck injuries. In terms of german cars, you get what you pay for so no biggie there!:rawk:
