Alright here's the deal...

Re: Alright here\'s the deal...

She's going to be a podiarist (DPM).

Whether she'll be considered a physician depends on the state that the practices in.

I said foot doctor, because most of the people I run into don't know what a podiatrist is. In fact a lot of people think that a podiatrist is a kid doctor.

That's a good idea though, have to look into that.

USD.

And yep I'm sure.

We've talked to several practicing podiatrists. One state that their practice brings in $15 million a year.

Of course that's not right out of the gate, but give it a few years.

Like I said I may not need to work as a pilot to fly.

Actually, only DO's (Doctor of Osteopathy) and MD's (Doctor of Medicine) are physicians--in any state. DPM's are doctors, but not physicians. DPM's still have admiting and surgical privilges at most hospitals and prescreptive authority. Their practice is limited to diseases of the foot, ankle, and leg.

A physician is not limited in their scope of practice, though most practice only in their area of board certification or eligibility. For example, an orthopedic surgeon works on bones, but he could treat a skin rash or write a script for high blood pressure medicine. A podiatrist could treat the rash if it's on your foot and could not treat hypertension.
