Alpha Flying is Expanding!!

Any idea for base expansion on the along the east coast? Would be great for me if they DC based or somewhere close to VA Beach.

It kinda confused the heck out of me. I didnt recognize anyone and it had like 2 pages when i read it this morning.

Well, is AF the same cherry happy place it was made out to be in this post 5 years ago?

I did have one question, are people able to move on from AF with all the single engine turb to other operators?

As I said in the other threads, I wouldn't come to Planesense© without some multi time. Also 7/7 is pretty much gone, we're moving to a 8/6 schedule.

I have said it before, and I will say it again. Good group of people I see them nearly every day here in the northeast but I still feel like its a place where your career will die. No one cares that you have 2000hrs pic turbine single. This is of course just one mans opinion. Not trying to defer anyone from going there, I would just think long and hard about what your career plans are long term.

However, you may run into someone who wants to hire someone as a personal PC12 pilot. I know of a lot of corporations who fly these also, so that could open some doors. If its not a bad place to work, and you can make a descent living, it may not be a bad resting place for your career. I know that 8/6 schedule is a dream! I used to fly a 206 mapping on that schedule with salary and benefits, and even though I am flying a jet now, sometimes I wish I were back at that gig, just for the schedule. If these guys ever open bases in VA I will sure give them some thought.

Are your only bases PSM PDK? Do you know of plans to expand on the east coast? Must pilots live in base?

Your career definitely won't die at Alpha. Matter of fact, I often read elsewhere that it's a great jumpstart to a career in multi-engine turbine aircraft.

That is good to hear. I was just talking of my own opinion. I truly hope that is the case and that the folks at alpha are able to work their way into something more rewarding. That being said I would love to have a pc12 to play with. Short field performance would be fun to play with. As always the networking that you do with the owners is probably key to everything!

ah yes that is always key to any aviation career. I would also keep a resume on your phone so that you can email it at the drop of a hat!

Depends on your long term goal. If you want to be an airline drone, its not the place for you, but if you want to stay working in the corporate/charter world, its a good stepping stone.

That sounds like a positive endorsement to me. I also didnt like the airline world. It wasn't for me either, just not my cup of tea.

There were two captains that just left recently, one to fly a king air, the other a beechjet. There is "life" after working here.

Do these pilots moving on have lots of multi time (pre Alpha)? I know you mentioned to NOT come to Alpha without ME time, so I assume they did. This sounds like a place that I'd love to be eventually, as I want to stay on the 91/91K side of things. However, I have hardly any multi time, and cannot really afford to go to a regional or 135 freight operator at this point in my career.

Also, how hard is it to get based at PDK?
