Alpa endorsed hour reduction plan.

No, it sounds like, they will still be able to fly until their 68 birthday, working at the likes of JAL or All Nippon.

Older pilots will be limited to 80 percent of the normal flying maximum – resulting in 80 hours per month, or 216 hours over three months. Those over the age of 65 must undergo epilepsy tests and be accompanied by a co-pilot aged 59 or younger.

Also from a 05/30/17 article. China is in the midst of raising their mandatory retirement age from the age 60 to as of yet an unknown age. Many suspect age 67.

Again unfortunately, it looks like IMO Age 67, in the US will probably be a reality somewhere in the next decade.

Dude, nothing in there contradicts what I said. :) The lower limits are imposed by the Japanese airlines, not by the government. I don't believe you'll find any 67 year old Al Nippon pilots, because the airline has a mandatory retirement age of 65. It's possible this has changed, but I searched and can't find any evidence of it.

The over-arching message is that you have less time than you think, be healthy (just because you're skinny and run marathons does not mean you're healthy says my friend the ectomorphic marathon runner who had a heart attack or the other athletic friend that almost died from Deep Vein Thrombosis) and realize that life has already begun.

Average means half died before 66.49 and half died after 66.49. Which half do you think you're in? Which half are you actually in? :)

Discussing mortality isn't negative, it's acceptance of the inevitability that those that don't save for retirement are going to get their asses kicked as they outlive their savings, and that those that forgo life in order to hoard money for retirement are just going to end up with some wealthy, entitled inheritors.
On the gripping hand, I'm not sure I'll be able to afford to live decently to collect Social Security anyway, so...

"Japan has lifted the age limit for commercial pilots to 67, in response to a drastic shortage of aircraft commanders in Asia. The move will result in Japan having the oldest pilots in the world.
Until now, the careers of Japanese pilots ended when they hit 65. The new rules will allow those who are currently 64 or younger to have the option of flying until their 68th birthday."

“As long as they pass the tests in the simulators, as long as they keep performing and prove that they know what they are doing in the plane, I think the retirement age can be pushed up a bit,” he said.

That make zero sense. If Japan is currently facing a critical pilot shortage, and raised the mandatory retirement age to 67, to put a band-aid on the shortage. How can the airlines, who the new mando retirement age was made national law, to help them keep bodies/experience up front not comply???

Any airline can impose its own rules that are more restrictive than the law. There are unions around the world that negotiate lower limits than even 65.

If pilot A solo'd in under 15 hours, got their private in under 50 and has been flying a KingAir right seat while Pilot B took 100+ hours to get their PPL and has only flown as a CFI for 3500 hours, I'd take pilot A in a heart beat!

Time is irreverent, experience is what is important.

A good stick doesn't necessarily make a good pilot.

I'd still rather have a pilot with 4000 hours of real experience, than a pilot with 500 hours, who soloed at 15, and hasn't seen a winter yet.

I honestly can't think of much that makes me angrier than "TL;DR." It's toxic and needs to stop.

I did my father-in-law like that. Some verbal mostly ALL CAPS rampage about theology and how his nephew was going to hell because he man-married a dude and how Jebediah 4:15am said "whatever" and how all of his friends were embarassed. So I told him "TL;DR - be a better uncle by supporting your nephew and tell your internet friends to go to hell because they're homophobic idiots that ride around on medicare-funded Larks".

So proud of myself.

Sorry, more than 133 characters...TL;DR

Great, now there is something wrong with me because I am technologically competent and don't have a facebook account. JC does not disappoint!

Seems appropriate.....

38-year-old founding president of Facebook, Sean Parker, was uncharacteristically frank about his creation in an interview with Axios. So much so in fact that he concluded, Mark Zuckerberg will probably block his account after reading this.

Confirming every 'big brother' conspiracy there is about the social media giant, Parker explained how social networks purposely hook users and potentially hurt our brains...
