Ill second ECIC as not giving you canned answers. I don't even think they gave any full answers, just ways to word things and how to organize your thoughts and stories. I thought it was very beneficial.
Well, 0/2 on Allegiant video interviews. This time less than 24 hours after completing said interview to TBNT. Questions:
-Why Allegiant?
-Any FAA actions?
- Walk us through your flying career.
-Anything at all in your past ,not disclosed previously,to prevent us from moving forward?
- Any checkride fails/training fails?
You have 30 seconds to prepare an answer after seeing the question and 2:00 min to respond. There are no do-overs, one take and that’s it.
I did not do formal prep for this, but I did review my notes and previous prep sessions from the freelance person I worked with for UAL and Spirit. I know the “Why Allegiant“ could have gone better, the others I have down fairly well (I’ve told them enough now).
Good experience and all, wish the outcome was different. Try again in 6 months if nothing else comes along.
I don’t want to get your hopes up too much, but there seems to be an issue where some people get this email prior to the interview being reviewed. Give it a week and see if you get a call.
I read this on the “other” forum too, but I won’t hold my breath. If it happens, it happens.
Have you applied to Frontier yet?
Just give it some time and some practice. The first girl to ask you to dance certainly won’t be the last to ask.
Don’t dwell on it as it’s caustic.
Yeah, I know. I’m past dwelling, just gonna keep tryin’ until I get somewhere I want to be.

He said junior base... not senior...KIWA?![]()
Huh... I commuted for almost 5 years at G4 and didn’t have an issue... my QOL was ok.Get that video interview done as soon as you can... There's really not a whole lot you can do to prepare for it. The questions will be something like why Allegiant, what if you don't get the base you want, have you ever failed a checkride...? They might ask if you plan to commute too... If you hesitate and answer anything other than "no" they will probably not invite you to interview... Allegiant is absolutely not a commutable airline--though some people try and miserable for it.
Also, Spirit and Frontier are quite a bit different than Allegiant... I definitely wouldn't advise going into the interview thinking that they're one and the same. Your interview experience at Allegiant will likely be the most relaxing and down to earth experience you'll ever have interviewing for 121... They just want to get to know you and make sure you're a good fit for the kind of flying they do... (Day trips/no commuting/FLEXIBLE)
P.S. Wear a suit for the video interview... Pants optional I guess...![]()
Allegiant has zero ties to any base, market, or region... if LAS was unprofitable for them starting tomorrow they would close up shop and find a new opportunity. What's your opinion on Allegiant's "ties" to a base per se? With GRR being junior, my fear would be that if it becomes unprofitable, it gets dropped, then you're left having to full on relocate or commute, which we've established isn't really possible. Obviously no base is forever, but is this a company this is willing to let a base linger a bit to see if it will recover, or will they pull the plug pronto?
No offense, but your avatar is the Koolaid man.Huh... I commuted for almost 5 years at G4 and didn’t have an issue... my QOL was ok.

Not my shop anymore... but it has historically been senior..That's your shops most senior base, right?
That’s fine... I could be devilishly clever... perhaps my avatar is just a sheep’s disguise for my brilliance...No offense, but your avatar is the Koolaid man.
I’m unlikely to take anyone with that seriously.

I disagree... the number 1 pilot on the seniority list when I left in 2018 had been commuting to work since the inception of the company. There is a large percentage of the pilot group who choose to commute. People choose companies for a wide variety of reasons... much like choosing to commute vs living in base... but to say no to a potential job because (you think) it would be detrimental is hogwash. That's great! However, the way the airline is going, I wouldn't recommend anyone go to Allegiant who isn't willing to live in one of their bases. What happens when Rickenbacher becomes a base? That certainly wouldn't be an easy commute... Obviously, commuting isn't impossible, but why go to Allegiant when others like Frontier or Spirit are hiring? Sure day trips are awesome, but they're certainly not awesome for a commuter... I think it's fair to say, the guys at Allegiant who are commuting certainly aren't in this job for the long term.

If LCK became a base it wouldn’t be that difficult to commute... fly into CMH and drive down... Republic has a base there so crashpads are probable... or perhaps start your own crashpad.
Don’t let your anxieties of what might/might not happen in the future serve as a potential rain cloud for others looking forward to taking the next step.
