Anyone know if Allegiant is still hiring? Trying to look at some options above the regionals that might consider a guy like me.

Old buddy of mine (from when dinosaurs roamed the earth) works there and he loves it most days. They had some tough times fighting with the owners a while back but it appears that's over with. They hired him with 5k hours of single engine cargo and all sorts of jet and prop 135 flying (mostly twin time). Some guys were (year old information probably more) working 95 credit hours an 120 hours away from base. FAT CITY for QOL. Pay may still be in the dumps but QOL tradeoff is huge. Have you applied? They are always quietly hiring (slow consistent turnover).

Kinda what i expected to hear. I just read your comment in the dispatcher area about QOL. I think I could live with that for a while. I have not applied yet as I am just now starting to consider taking a boost from a 121 operator I just really want (need) to skip the regional phase cause a family of 5 can't do 20K a year. Air Wisconsin and Compass are the only two places I have really considered until now. If I remember right I heard they like 1000 multi but will bend on it however the ATP is a firm requirement. Don't have it yet but the written is done and I'll go get it to make things happen ya know. If I gotta do some 121 time I would rather have their starting pay instead of any of the regionals. Probably a better option than Omni and such just wonder what kind of shot I would have cause I need to make a decision about these other two.

They just hired around 24.....the in house rumor is that they will be hiring more next year. Just purchased more 80's some will be part planes some will go online, also the leases on the 75's will up so they will be coming back. Most days I like it, can't complain much got hired in April and have a line most of the time.

Hey man I completely understand. I went to the regionals because I was single. I would say that Mesaba's starting pay (I thought) was higher than Compass, but here's a breakdown I gave another guy asking about pay if it helps.

Reserve is 11 days off a month. It sucks if you are commuting.

Let me break down some of the math.

First year pay as of Dec 1st is 26.70.

26.70*75(monthly guarantee)= $2002 a month. 12 * 2002 = 24030 Right now you've done no work, not a dollar of per diem nor sits at the airport, nor training. You will do all of those things. Count on an extra 100-200 a month of some sort of perdiem.

Each month if you picked up a 3 day trip (the max except under our current letter of agreement which allows 4 day pickups, but that will expire) worth about 14 credits (low credit trip), you would make 560.70 extra in credit and 90.75 in per diem making you $651.45 extra. That's $7817.40 a year extra bringing you to $31847.4. You worked exactly 36 days in the whole year. If you work more due to jr.manning and ready reserve or one month you get slammed with 90 hours of credit because we are short you will make closer to 35k.

However, reserve may cause you to blow your brains out if you aren't in base.

As far as Omni goes, Dasleben on this forum likes Omni. I know we've had at least one guy from here (Mesaba) bail out for Omni and didn't have a lot of nice things to say about it (except in the very beginning). The time away from base at a stretch may be simply impossible for a family man. However, the goal being Allegiant and if you get hired and live in base at, you're gonna be a happy man. Let me know I'll have you scope it out for me some :).

You all get many reserve lines any base?

Is it true they have no overnights? All out and back day trips. That would be awesome if you lived in base and had a family.

No overnights unless you are doing charter....as for reserve lines it depends on the base when I was in LAS I think there were 8 or so. In FLL (right now) there are no reserve lines. I think PIE has 1? Usually depends on the base. Also I am pretty sure no reserve lines at charter bases.

I guess I should say "usually no overnights" unless something weird happens, most the time even if a plane breaks when they get out they send a rescue plane and the rescue crew will stay with the broken plane. They just closed the GRR base so things up there are a little weird for right now, but I would say the likelyhood of you being home every night is 99% (unless charter)

Eagle421flyer, speaking of GRR, do you know what happened to the whole maintenance base plan and expanding? Every time I've flown you guys out of GRR the loads are full...?

Not really sure other than they closed the GRR base on Nov1 but still have flights that go to/through there.

Pretty sure Mesaba pay is higher than Compass but I have not compared. I am considering compass for the ATP and type rating plus the 170 is over 30 tons which opens some options down the road. Still the money is a problem. I make over $40K base right now gone only one night a week and the job is a lot of fun. When I change jobs my wife will no longer be working which means even bigger hit to the income. There is no way I will be able to move to detroit or whatever base I get so I will be commuting at first which means more expenses. Also the likelihood of picking up an extra 3 day is pretty undesirable considering commuting and family life. So I admit that the pay is more than 21K (Air Wisky base is close to 25k) but it's still less than I want to have to deal with when I don't even want to be an airline pilot. Allegiant offers something a little different with starting base I believe at 35K. Something more doable.

I got you, I'm back to making better than $50k (about damn time) after this downgrade and I just wanna coast on the money for a little while. Good luck to you man, worse case you're stuck where you are, this industry is about to implode and remake itself and I'll see you on the other side sitting fat dumb and happy somewhere good.

You still need a letter of rec? Really thought about going there b4 my current gig. Had 2 letters at the time but they weren't hiring then.

99% of the time yes, you need at least one internal rec. There were 2 guys (myself and another) in my class that didn't have them, but we had gone to jetcareers in the fall of 2010 and met with the reps then...that was our "in"

What is an average resume of a new hire at Allegiant these days? I am pushing 1000 turbine (500 PIC) and almost at 4000 tt, but I can't get seem to get a response from anywhere I have been applying... including Allegiant!
