I know we have some people on this board who work at ALGT...any thoughts?

At one former regional employer, our maintenance in a particular base was so shoddy I'm seriously surprised there was never a serious incident caused by it. My hat is off to the pilots who flew those aircraft. But some other bases at the same airline seemed to do very good work...I always thought that disparity was odd.
 
The FAA might as set up a field office in their parking lot. I would figure that they and the NTSB would be pretty much babysitting the airline at this point, but still they are a weekly news item for the wrong reasons. MX problems are going to be a given with a fleet as old and rusty as theirs, so it stands to reason that their maintenance division should be a point of focus in their corporate strategy. I know some good people in dispatch there, so I'm hoping the company gets its act together for their sake, as well as all other employees and passengers.
 
I see a pretty long list of cancellations on their website today, is that just a normal day and if so, is that about average for every airline?
 
Allegiant rarely cancels. They serve most markets twice a week and have no interline agreements, so there is no passenger protection. If they do cancel, they will send a rescue aircraft later or the next day usually.

The MX guys I know are very high integrity guys. They are signing their names to the paperwork and just like pilots and dispatchers, they take it seriously. I'm sure they MEL more often than they like because parts are not plentiful and delays really disrupt the unusual schedule Allegiant flies.
 
They cancelled my flight this morning, and it isn't rescheduled until tomorrow evening. We were using them for company travel but its completely hoarked our schedule.
